Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract- CAKUT are common childhood pathology accounting for 20-30% of all perinatally detected congenital anomalies. The importance of CAKUT is the risk they represent to kidney function deterioration and end-

Improved real-space genetic algorithm for crystal structure and polymorph prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Existing genetic algorithms for crystal structure and polymorph prediction can suffer from stagnation during evolution, with a consequent loss of efficiency and accuracy.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Supermembranes and domain walls in N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1, D = 4 SYM

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We construct a manifestly supersymmetric and kappa-symmetry invariant worldvolume action describing the coupling of a dynamical membrane to an N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1, D = 4 SU(N ) super-Yang-Mills multiplet.

The head of the nominal is N, not D: N-to-D Movement, Hybrid Agreement, and conventionalized expressions

open access: yesGlossa, 2020
The DP Hypothesis has recently come under intense criticism (Bruening 2009, Bruening et al. 2018). In the face of this criticism, several responses have been offered. This paper addresses three such responses and shows that they are without force. First,

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
