Neurogenesis-promoting natural product α-asarone modulates morphological dynamics of activated microglial

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2016
α-Asarone is an active constituent of Acori Tatarinowii, one of the widely used traditional Chinese Medicine to treat cognitive defect, and recently is shown to promote neurogenesis.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

(α, β)-Monotone Variational Inequalities Over Arbitrary Product Sets

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Extension, 2014
The purpose of this paper is to introduce some new concept and extend the usual ones are introduced for variational inequality problems over arbitrary product sets. Our result can be viewed as an extension of the results obtained by Igor V.

NEW SEMISYNTHETIC DERIVATIVES OF A BENZYLISOTHIOCYANATE ISOLATED FROM Moringa oleifera AND EVALUATION OF THEIR CYTOTOXIC ACTIVITY

open access: yesQuímica Nova
From the natural product 4-(4'-O-acetyl-α-L-rhamnosyloxy)benzylisothiocyanate (1), isolated from the flowers of Moringa oleifera Lam (Moringaceae), four new semisynthetic derivatives, N-[4-(4'-O-acetyl-α-L-rhamnosyloxy)benzyl]-2-(pyridinil-4-carbonil ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Maximum energy product of exchange-coupled Sm(FeCo)12/α-Fe nanocomposite particle

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
The effects of the coating surface orientation of the α-Fe soft magnetic layer on the Sm(Fe0.8Co0.2)12 hard magnetic phase and the volume fraction of α-Fe, VFe, on the maximum energy product, (BH)max of exchange-coupled Sm(Fe0.8Co0.2)12/α-Fe ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Inequalities Involving A-Numerical Radius and Operator A-Norm for a Class of Operators Related to α,β−A-Normal Operators

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
In this article, we introduce and study a new class of operators, larger than α,β−A-normal operators and different than α,β−A-normal operators, named m-quasi-α,β−A-normal operators. Considering the semi-inner product induced by a positive operator A, the
