Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Extended Laguerre Polynomials Associated with Hermite, Bernoulli, and Euler Numbers and Polynomials

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
Let Pn={p(x)∈ℝ[x]∣deg  p(x)≤n} be an inner product space with the inner product 〈p(x),q(x)〉=∫0∞xαe-xp(x)q(x)dx, where p(x),q(x)∈Pn and α∈ℝ with α>-1. In this paper we study the properties of the extended Laguerre polynomials which are an orthogonal basis

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Measurement of the multiplicity dependence of Υ production ratios in pp collisions at $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Abstract The Υ(2S) and Υ(3S) production cross-sections are measured relative to that of the Υ(1S) meson, as a function of charged-particle multiplicity in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The measurement uses data collected by the LHCb experiment in 2018 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 ...

Catalytic Mode and Product Specificity of an α-Agarase Reveal Its Direct Catalysis for the Production of Agarooligosaccharides

open access: yesFoods
Many α-agarases have been characterized and are utilized for producing agarooligosaccharides through the degradation of agar and agarose, which are considered valuable for applications in the food and medicine industries. However, the catalytic mechanism

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Enantioselective-GCxGC determination of α-terpinyl ethyl ether in wine: Quantitative analysis and identification of main terpene precursors

open access: yesApplied Food Research
The present study investigates the presence of α-terpinyl ethyl ether in wine and gives insights on the chemical processes leading to its formation. The analytical determination of (S)-α-terpinyl ethyl ether and (R)-α-terpinyl ethyl ether enantiomers was

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
