USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Triumph of the ΠΑΝΤΟΠΟΡΟΣ? The image of the self‘invented and self inventing Δεινον in antigone’s first stasimon

open access: yesRevista Filosófica de Coimbra, 2019
This paper focuses on Antigone’s first stasimon and tries to work out its meaning. The key question to be answered is: what image of man underlies the famous choral ode? This key question can be divided into several sub-questions:1) In what sense is man said to be δεινόν and indeed the most δεινόν thing of all?2) What is the connection ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

The Comparison of Effect of β-tricalciumphosphate and Deproteinized Bovine Bone in Sinus Lift Operation Comparative Histological and Histomorphometrical Study

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2006
The aim of this prospective study is to evaluate the quality of ß-tricalciumphosphate (Cerasorb, Curasan Pharma) and deproteinized bovine bone (Bio-Oss, Geistlich) used as augmentation materials for the sinus lift operation.Histomorphometry was carried ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Resorption of Augmenting Materials Used in Sinus Lift Operation

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2006
In certain cases conditions in oral cavity for introducing dental implants should be prepared before the operation. In lateral section of upper jaw the augmenting sinus lift procedure is almost an indispensable part of implantological therapy. The aim of

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.
