Simulation‐Based Bayesian Predictive Probability of Success for Interim Monitoring of Clinical Trials With Competing Event Data: Two Case Studies

open access: yesPharmaceutical Statistics, Volume 25, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Bayesian predictive probabilities of success (PPoS) use interim trial data to calculate the probability of trial success. These quantities can be used to optimise trial size or to stop for futility. In this paper, we describe a simulation‐based approach to compute the PPoS for clinical trials with competing event data, for which no specific ...

A C(K) Banach space which does not have the Schroeder-Bernstein property [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We construct a totally disconnected compact Hausdorff space N which has clopen subsets M included in L included in N such that N is homeomorphic to M and hence C(N) is isometric as a Banach space to C(M) but C(N) is not isomorphic to C(L). This gives two

From Public to Internal Capital Markets: The Effects of Affiliated IPOs on Group Firms

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 31-51, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Using detailed corporate ownership data, we document the effects of group‐affiliated initial public offerings (IPOs) on other (unlisted) firms in the group. We find evidence of a persistent decrease in leverage (−6%) and increase in employment (+18%).

Module structure of Weyl algebras

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The seminal paper (Stafford, J. Lond. Math. Soc. (2) 18 (1978), no. 3, 429–442) was a major step forward in our understanding of Weyl algebras. Beginning with Serre's Theorem on free summands of projective modules and Bass' Stable Range Theorem in commutative algebra, we attempt to trace the origins of this work and explain how it led to ...

Rate of approximation of blending type modified univariate and bivariate λ-Schurer-Kantorovich operators

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science
In this work, we investigate some approximation properties of blending type univariate and bivariate Schurer-Kantorovich operators based on shape parameter λ ∈ [−1, 1]. We evaluate some moment estimates and obtain several direct theorems.

A Lucas Operational Matrix Method for Solving Nonlinear Fractional Two‐Dimensional Partial Volterra Integral Equations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This paper introduces a new numerical method for solving a class of two‐dimensional fractional partial Volterra integral equations (2DFPVIEs). Our approach uses Lucas polynomials (LPs) to construct operational matrices (OMs) that effectively transform the complex fractional‐order equations into a more manageable system of algebraic equations.

An Overlapping One‐Step Multiderivative Hybrid Block Method for Solving Second‐Order Initial Value Problems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This paper presents a one‐step multiderivative hybrid block method of Order 12 that incorporates an overlapping strategy, in which intrastep points from the previous block are reused in the current step to enhance accuracy and stability when solving linear and nonlinear initial value problems.

Conformally Covariant Bi-Differential Operators on a Simple Real Jordan Algebra

open access: yes, 2017
For a simple real Jordan algebra $V,$ a family of bi-differential operators from $\mathcal{C}^\infty(V\times V)$ to $\mathcal{C}^\infty(V)$ is constructed.

A new kind of Durrmeyer-Stancu-type operators

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
The objective of this study is to examine a class of positive linear operators, defined in terms of the bψ,kλ,μ{b}_{\psi ,k}^{\lambda ,\mu } basis and to analyze their approximation properties. Direct estimates for the (λ,μ)\left(\lambda ,\mu )-Durrmeyer-

Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand sequences

open access: yes, 1999
This paper is devoted to the study of geometric structures modeled on homogeneous spaces G/P, where G is a real or complex semisimple Lie group and $P\subset G$ is a parabolic subgroup. We use methods from differential geometry and very elementary finite-
