High‐Concentration Mesogen‐Assisted Exfoliation of Low‐Dimensional Nanomaterials for Achieving Ultralow‐Temperature Actuations of Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Most matter is nominally frozen in the polar regions or space, and liquid crystal materials are no exception. Consequently, soft actuators, including liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs), are inoperative under such extreme cold in response to stimuli, as their motion relies on mechanical deformation.

2-Oxo-2H-chromen-4-yl 4-ethylbenzoate

open access: yesIUCrData
In the title compound, C18H14O4, the dihedral angle between the coumarin moiety and the phenyl fragment is 63.46 (5)°. In the crystal, the molecules are linked by weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds and aromatic π–π stacking interactions. A short C=O...π [O...π =

A low-bandgap dimeric porphyrin molecule for 10% efficiency solar cells with small photon energy loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Dimeric porphyrin molecules have great potential as donor materials for high performance bulk heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs). Recently reported dimeric porphyrins bridged by ethynylenes showed power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of more than ...

Mechanically Tunable Bone Scaffolds: In Vivo Hardening of 3D‐Printed Calcium Phosphate/Polycaprolactone Inks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D bone scaffold with osteogenic properties and capable of hardening in vivo is developed. The scaffold is implanted in a ductile state, and a phase transformation of the ceramic induces the stiffening and strengthening of the scaffold in vivo. Abstract Calcium phosphate 3D printing has revolutionized customized bone grafting.

CRISPR/Cas9‐Assisted Microrobots for Fast and Ultrasensitive “On‐The‐Fly” Next‐Generation DNA Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents self‐propelled CRISPR/Cas9‐functionalized Au–MRs for rapid, amplification‐free, “on‐the‐fly” DNA detection. By harnessing motion‐assisted signal recovery, the platform achieved the limit of detection in low fM DNA concentrations, enabling detection across a wide dynamic range within only 5 min, which is significantly faster than any ...

Comparative Analysis of the Substituent Effects on the Supramolecular Structure of N′-(4-Methyl-2-nitrophenyl)benzohydrazide and N′-(2-Nitro-(4-trifluoromethyl)phenyl)benzohydrazide)

open access: yesCrystals
N′-Phenylbenzohydrazides are valuable precursors for air- and moisture-stable Blatter radicals, with applications in magnetism and spintronics. This study presents the single-crystal X-ray structures of N′-(4-methyl-2-nitrophenyl)benzohydrazide (I) and N′

Large Anomalous and Topological Hall Effect and Nernst Effect in a Dirac Kagome Magnet Fe3Ge

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fe3Ge, a Kagome‐lattice magnet, exhibits remarkable anomalous Hall and Nernst effects, with transverse thermoelectric conductivity surpassing or comaprable to some well‐known ferromagnets. First‐principles calculations attribute these to Berry curvature from massive Dirac gaps. Additionally, topological Hall and Nernst signals emerge from field‐induced
