Positive Eigenfunctions of a Schrödinger Operator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The paper considers the eigenvalue problem -Δu-αu+λg(x)u=0 withu∈H1(RN),u≠0 where ∞, λ ∈ and  g(x)≡0 on Ω¯,   g(x) ∈ (0,1] onRN \ Ω¯  and lim|x|→+∞g(x)=1 for some bounded open set Ω∈RN. Given α>0, does there exist a value of λ>0 for which the problem has

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Algebrization of Nonautonomous Differential Equations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2015
Given a planar system of nonautonomous ordinary differential equations, dw/dt=F(t,w), conditions are given for the existence of an associative commutative unital algebra A with unit e and a function H:Ω⊂R2×R2→R2 on an open set Ω such that F(t,w)=H(te,w ...

Total $k$-coalition: bounds, exact values and an application to double coalition [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science
Let $G=\big{(}V(G),E(G)\big{)}$ be a graph with minimum degree $k$. A subset $S\subseteq V(G)$ is called a total $k$-dominating set if every vertex in $G$ has at least $k$ neighbors in $S$.

Regularity for nonlinear elliptic equations and systems

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2020
We study the regularity of weak solutions to the elliptic system in divergence form divA(x, Du)=0 in an open set Ω of R^n, n≥2. The vector field A(x.ξ), A: Ω×R^(m×n)→R^(m×n), has a variational nature in the sense that A(x,ξ)= Dξ f(x,ξ), where f:Ω×R^(m×n)→

Topological and pointwise upper Kuratowski limits of a sequence of lower quasi-continuous multifunctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we deal with a connection between the upper Kuratowski limit of a sequence of graphs of multifunctions and the upper Kuratowski limit of a sequence of their values.

Segmentation of complex geophysical structures with well data

open access: yes, 2006
International audienceIn many problems of geophysical interest, when trying to segment images (i.e., to locate interfaces between different regions on the images), one has to deal with data that exhibit very complex structures. This occurs, for instance,

Embeddings of infinitely connected planar domains into C^2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We prove that every circled domain in the Riemann sphere admits a proper holomorphic embedding to C^2. Our methods also apply to circled domains with punctures, provided that all but finitely many of the punctures belong to the closure of the set of ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Local Hypoellipticity by Lyapunov Function

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2016
We treat the local hypoellipticity, in the first degree, for a class of abstract differential operators complexes; the ones are given by the following differential operators: Lj=∂/∂tj+(∂ϕ/∂tj)(t,A)A, j=1,2,…,n, where A:D(A)⊂H→H is a self-adjoint linear ...
