Ideal Projections and Forcing Projections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It is well known that saturation of ideals is closely related to the “antichain-catching” phenomenon from Foreman-Magidor-Shelah [10]. We consider several antichain-catching properties that are weaker than saturation, and prove: (1) If I is a normal ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Fréchet Envelopes of Nonlocally Convex Variable Exponent Hörmander Spaces

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2016
We show that the dual Bp·locΩ′ of the variable exponent Hörmander space Bp(·)loc(Ω) is isomorphic to the Hörmander space B∞c(Ω) (when the exponent p(·) satisfies the conditions ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Compact-calibres of regular and monotonically normal spaces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2002
A topological space has calibre ω1 (resp., calibre (ω1,ω)) if every point-countable (resp., point-finite) collection of nonempty open sets is countable.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Inorganic Carbon Assimilation and Electrosynthesis of Platform Chemicals in Bioelectrochemical Systems (BESs) Inoculated with Clostridium saccharoperbutylacetonicum N1-H4

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
The need for greener processes to satisfy the demand of platform chemicals together with the possibility of reusing CO2 from human activities has recently encouraged research on the set-up, optimization, and development of bioelectrochemical systems ...

On S*g-ï¡-Open Sets In Topological Spaces

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences, 2017
In this paper, we introduce a new class of sets, namely , s*g-ï¡-open sets and we show that the family of all s*g-ï¡-open subsets of a topological space ) ,X( ï´ from a topology on X which is finer than ï´ . Also , we study the characterizations and basic properties of s*g-ï¡open sets and s*g-ï¡-closed sets . Moreover, we use these sets to define and

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
