The work raises issues related to improving the reliability of power systems. A review of Russian Electric Power System and the Power System of Far East in particular are conducted. The analysis of blackout in Far East Power System on August 1, 2017, as an example of a power disturbance re-sulting from superficial damage, is lead.

An experimental study of the possibility of directional light coupling from a microdisk (MD) laser using a strip-loaded slot waveguide was performed. The lasing characteristics of a 10-μm microdisk laser with InAs/InGaAs QDs active region were studied by photoluminescence spectroscopy.
