Spatial-temporal Evolution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Carbon Emissions in Yunnan Province Based on Land Use Changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
[Objective] The temporal and spatial variation of carbon emissions due to land use changes and the factors influencing carbon emissions in Yunnan Province were analyzed in order to provide a theoretical basis for optimizing land use structure and ...

Combined effects of land use and hunting on distributions of tropical mammals

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1271-1280, October 2020., 2020
Abstract Land use and hunting are 2 major pressures on biodiversity in the tropics. Yet, their combined impacts have not been systematically quantified at a large scale. We estimated the effects of both pressures on the distributions of 1884 tropical mammal species by integrating species’ range maps, detailed land‐use maps (1992 and 2015), species ...

Effects of drying-wetting cycle caused by rainfall on soil respiration: Progress and prospect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Soil respiration is an important part of the carbon cycle in terrestrial ecosystems. The changes of soil respiration caused by rainfall directly affect global carbon balance.

Elevation, soil pH and calcium availability shape regional and local scale spatial patterns of PhoD gene abundance in tropical and subtropical forests

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Organic phosphorus mineralization is a critical process in the phosphorus cycle, governing phosphorus bioavailability for plants. The PhoD gene, which encodes the key enzyme alkaline phosphatase, serves as a valuable biomarker for this process.

Features of Tree Canopy Rainfall Initial Distribution and Analysis of Its Main Driving Factors in Monsoon Climate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013

Informing spatial conservation prioritization with species’ traits

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract New Guinea, the most botanically diverse island on the planet, is the location for one of the boldest conservation initiatives. The Manokwari Declaration aims to achieve 70% conservation designation for the Bird's Head Peninsula. This is 40% higher than the 2022 Global Biodiversity Framework target.

Understanding and minimizing environmental impacts of the Belt and Road Initiative

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 883-894, August 2019., 2019
Abstract China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) sets to create connections and build infrastructure across Eurasia, Asia, and parts of the African continent in its initial phase and is the largest infrastructure project of all time. Any infrastructure project on this scale will necessarily pass through ecofragile regions and key biodiversity areas ...

open access: yes, 2003
