Association of glycemic gap with stroke recurrence in patients with ischemic stroke. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Diabetes, 2023
Highlights There was a U‐shaped relationship between glycemic gap and stroke recurrence during a long‐term follow‐up in a Chinese ischemic stroke registry. Clinical physicians should remain vigilant in the fluctuation of glucose level and use individualized glucose control strategies in patients with ischemic stroke.

Exploration and Practice of the Construction of Stroke Center in Henan Province

open access: yesZhongguo cuzhong zazhi, 2023

Stroke Center Construction and Quality Control: A Long Way to Go

open access: yesZhongguo cuzhong zazhi, 2023

A network meta‐analysis of association between cardiometabolic risk factors and COVID‐19 outcome severity

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 11, Page 968-977, November 2023., 2023
Highlights Among 301 studies, diabetes mellitus was the most studied cardiometabolic risk factor. In the network meta‐analysis, cerebrovascular disease had the highest impact (relative risk [RR] 1.69; 95% CI, 1.65–1.73) on COVID‐19 outcomes compared to other cardiometabolic risk factors.

Association of alcohol consumption with all‐cause mortality, new‐onset stroke, and coronary heart disease in patients with abnormal glucose metabolism—Findings from a 10‐year follow‐up of the REACTION study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 4, Page 289-298, April 2023., 2023
Highlights This long‐term longitudinal study demonstrates the association between alcohol consumption and health outcomes in patients with abnormal glucose metabolism including type 2 diabetes mellitus and prediabetes. Occasional drinking (less than once a week) reduces the risk of all‐cause mortality, while heavy alcohol consumption (≥30 g/day for men

Are U‐shaped relationships between risk factors and outcomes artifactual?

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 14, Issue 12, Page 815-821, December 2022., 2022
Highlights U‐shaped relationships between three common cardiovascular risk factors (weight, systolic blood pressure, and insulin) and hazards of composite cardiovascular outcomes were analyzed in three study samples: entire sample, “high” subgroup, and “low” subgroup.

Global disease burden of stroke attributable to high fasting plasma glucose in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2019: An analysis of the Global Burden of Disease Study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 14, Issue 8, Page 495-513, August 2022., 2022
Highlights During the past 30 years, globally, the disease burden of stroke burden has decreased substantially; however, the disease burden of stroke attributable to high fasting plasma glucose (HFPG) failed to achieve a significant decline. The population‐attributable fraction of HFPG for stroke burden has been increasing across different regions ...

Unearthing Wu Daozi (c. 686 to c. 760): The Concept of Authorship in Tang Painting

open access: yesArt History, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 228-248, April 2022., 2022
Worshipped by later folk artists as the god of painting, Wu Daozi (c. 686 to c. 760) was also praised by ninth‐century art historian Zhang Yanyuan as someone who ‘did not look back and will have no successors’. But alas, this ‘Sage of Painting’ (Hua sheng) left no work to us (imagine if we knew Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo only by reputation). Can

A comparison of the stress hyperglycemia ratio, glycemic gap, and glucose to assess the impact of stress‐induced hyperglycemia on ischemic stroke outcome

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 13, Issue 12, Page 1034-1042, December 2021., 2021
Highlights The impact of stress‐induced hyperglycemia on outcome is poorly reflected by absolute glucose levels. The stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) biomarker discriminates between interpatient variation in normal premorbid background glycemia related to glycosylated hemoglobin and the acute relative increase in glucose related to physiological stress
