Diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound signs for detecting adnexal torsion: systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 61, Issue 3, Page 310-324, March 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of different ultrasound signs for diagnosing adnexal torsion, using surgery as the reference standard. Methods This was a systematic review and meta‐analysis of studies published between January 1990 and November 2021 evaluating ovarian edema, adnexal mass, ovarian Doppler flow findings, the ...

Benign descriptors and ADNEX in two‐step strategy to estimate risk of malignancy in ovarian tumors: retrospective validation in IOTA5 multicenter cohort

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 61, Issue 2, Page 231-242, February 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Objective Previous work has suggested that the ultrasound‐based benign simple descriptors (BDs) can reliably exclude malignancy in a large proportion of women presenting with an adnexal mass. This study aimed to validate a modified version of the BDs and to validate a two‐step strategy to estimate the risk of malignancy, in which the modified ...

Mitigating the effects of climate change on the nests of sea turtles with artificial irrigation

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 1, February 2023., 2023
Abstract For sea turtles, like many oviparous species, increasing temperatures during development threaten to increase embryonic mortality, alter offspring quality, and potentially create suboptimal primary sex ratios. Various methods are being implemented to mitigate the effects of climate change on reproductive success, but these methods, such as ...

Onset and duration of action of lokivetmab in a canine model of IL‐31 induced pruritus

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 32, Issue 6, Page 681-e182, December 2021., 2021
Onset of antipruritic action of lokivetmab in dogs. Laboratory‐bred beagle dogs were dosed subcutaneously with either placebo or lokivetmab at 2.0 mg/kg on Day (D) 0. Approximately 2.5 h post‐dosing, pruritus was induced using canine interleukin (IL)‐31. Animals were observed for pruritic behaviours for a total of 2 h (3–5 h post‐treatment with placebo

ESGO/ISUOG/IOTA/ESGE Consensus Statement on preoperative diagnosis of ovarian tumors

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 58, Issue 1, Page 148-168, July 2021., 2021
ABSTRACT The European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG), the International Ovarian Tumour Analysis (IOTA) group and the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) jointly developed clinically relevant and evidence‐based statements on the preoperative ...

Ultrasound image analysis using deep neural networks for discriminating between benign and malignant ovarian tumors: comparison with expert subjective assessment

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 57, Issue 1, Page 155-163, January 2021., 2021
Abstract Objectives To develop and test the performance of computerized ultrasound image analysis using deep neural networks (DNNs) in discriminating between benign and malignant ovarian tumors and to compare its diagnostic accuracy with that of subjective assessment (SA) by an ultrasound expert.

Parental care and bird embryonic metabolism: A comparison between uniparentally incubating Silver‐throated Tits and biparentally incubating Black‐throated Tits

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Studies have shown that organisms may adjust metabolic rates in response to thermal variability, highlighting metabolic plasticity as a key adaptive mechanism. Understanding the extent of metabolic plasticity of an organism is key to predicting its adaptation to climate

Host Exploitation by Cuckoos in China: A Review and Real‐Time Tracking Program for Parasitism Records

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
China is a global hotspot for cuckoo‐host diversity, with 17 cuckoo species, exploiting 142 host species. We reveal adaptive matching in body size and egg traits, along with niche partitioning among cuckoos, while identifying eight new host species.

Association between polycystic ovary syndrome and environmental endocrine disruptors: the pathogenetic mechanisms involved [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016

Novel Natural History Observations on the Reproductive Biology of King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) From Yunnan Province, China 云南省眼镜王蛇繁殖生物学的野外观察

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 523-526, December 2025.
Here we report three cases of nesting behavior in Yunnan Province, China. Our observations confirmed the presence of multi‐individual participation during the nest guarding, and this behavior was associated with an exceptionally high clutch size. ABSTRACT Although the King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) has received considerable conservation attention ...
