A legal cure for news choice overload: Regulating algorithms and AI with ‘light patterns’ to foster autonomy and democracy

Abstract Despite an unprecedented abundance of news content, both news avoidance and dissatisfaction are rising. Blending journalism, philosophy and law scholarship, this paper argues that ‘news choice overload’ causes paralysis and poor outcomes as it transfers power to algorithms, thereby harming autonomy and, in turn, democracy.

海上风电机组利用高桩承台基础作为自然接地体的仿真研究

近海海底一般地形复杂,为了抗台风和抗海底冲刷的需要,海上风力发电机组的基础会使用高桩承台基础结构。高桩承台结构在高水位时,顶部水泥平台部分浸没水中,会影响入地电流流散,有必要对利用高桩承台基础作为自然接地体的可行性进行研究。建立了以高桩承台基础作为海上风电机组的自然接地体的仿真模型。利用将导体分段,求解各微段导体的格林函数,再叠加的方法求解出模型的接地电阻,在此基础上,利用指数函数模型拟合,得出接地电阻与水位变化的关系曲线。计算结果表明,海上风电机组利用高桩承台结构作为自然接地体能够满足实际工程的需要 ...

Analysis on the climate characteristics of local rainstorm in inland Taizhou from 1981 to 2010(台州1981~2010年内陆局地性暴雨气候特征分析)

利用NCEP、fnl再分析资料和常规探测资料分析1981~2010年台州市局地暴雨的时空分布,并进行天气分型,对平均形势和典型个例进行了对比分析.结果表明:(1)台州局地暴雨日约占总暴雨日数的1/3,月际变化显著;局地暴雨总体上呈北多南少分布;(2)5~6月暴雨主要由西风带类造成,8~9月主要由东风带造成,7月各类暴雨均有发生.热带系统、移动低槽、南海台风是引发台州局地暴雨最多的系统.局地暴雨对于水汽输送和动力条件的要求比大暴雨要低得多.各型范围暴雨和局地暴雨在850 hPa形势场上有较明显的差异;(3)

台特玛湖干涸湖盆区风沙活动特征

风沙活动特征研究是风沙危害防治的一项重要基础工作,也是实现风沙危害因地制宜、因害设防的重要基础。本研究依托214省道建立观测断面,通过野外观测取样及室内实验分析,对台特玛湖干涸湖盆区沙物质、风动力和风沙活动的时空变化特征进行了系统分析。主要结论如下: (1)台特玛湖干涸湖盆区地表基本不含水,土壤呈弱碱性,从A点至C点,沙粒粒径逐渐变细,分形维数逐渐增大,分选性由好变为较差,偏度逐渐由正偏变为极正偏,峰态逐渐由中等变为窄峰态。该区地表物质以极细沙和粉沙为主,细沙次之,不含中沙及以上粗沙粒。从A点至C点 ...
