Acoustic Mimicry of Begging Calls and Its Geographical Differentiation in Nestling Common Cuckoos Toward Oriental Reed Warblers

open access: yesWildlife Letters, EarlyView.
Common cuckoo nestlings from different populations show varying degrees of mimicry of warbler begging calls, with the Yongnianwa population being the most accurate and the Zhalong population the least. Overall, these cuckoos employ a dual strategy: they conservatively mimic the high‐frequency components of host calls while adaptively adjusting their ...

Trends and Predictions of Ischemic Stroke Incidence and Disease Burden among Middle-Aged and Older Adults in China and the United Kingdom

open access: yesZhongguo cuzhong zazhi

Generative AI as a Learning Companion for Self‐Directed Second Language Learning Among Secondary School Students: A Mixed‐Methods Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Self‐directed Learning (SDL) is an important skill for learners of all ages and phases of life. Generative AI facilitates self‐directed second language (L2) learning by providing interactive, personalised access to online resources. However, existing research on AI‐assisted self‐directed L2 learning focuses on adult learners in higher ...

open access: yes, 2006

Radiographic identification and description of the equine middle conchal sinus (ethmoidal sinus): Implications for diagnosing middle conchal sinusitis

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 58, Issue 6, Page 1627-1635, November 2026.
Abstract Background The middle conchal sinus (MCS) (ethmoidal sinus) remains one of the least understood equine paranasal compartments. Despite recognition of its involvement in sinonasal disease, disorders of the MCS often remain underdiagnosed in the absence of computed tomographic (CT) imaging due to limited anatomical understanding and challenges ...
