Gaps in humanitarian WASH response: perspectives from people affected by crises, practitioners, global responders, and the literature

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 47, Issue 3, Page 830-846, July 2023., 2023
Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions prevent and control disease in humanitarian response. To inform future funding and policy priorities, WASH ‘gaps’ were identified via 220 focus‐group discussions with people affected by crises and WASH practitioners, 246 global survey respondents, and 614 documents.

Administrative intensity in local government: Do administrative scale economies exist in New South Wales local government?

open access: yesPolitics &Policy, Volume 50, Issue 3, Page 562-579, June 2022., 2022
Abstract A vast empirical literature has investigated economies of scale in local service provision, especially in water and waste management. By contrast, the question of scale economies in local government administration has attracted much less attention, especially in Australian local government.

Chloride Coordination‐Engineered Fe–NC Catalyst for Directed Singlet Oxygen Generation Through Peroxymonosulfate Activation

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Heteroatom coordination regulation is an effective strategy to enhance Fenton‐like catalysis of single atom catalysts, yet its impact on the local microenvironment of active sites still requires in‐depth investigation. Herein, Cl2–Fe–NC catalysts with axial Cl coordination are prepared.

Upcycling of Waste Polyethylene Terephthalate Plastics to Fabricate Cobalt–Nickel Metal–Organic Frameworks and Their Phosphides for Efficient Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The urgent environmental crisis caused by polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste necessitates efficient upcycling strategies. Herein, we establish a novel pathway to transform waste PET plastic into a high‐performance catalytic material for mediating the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Through a one‐step hydrothermal process, waste PET serves

Guanidinium‐Based Covalent Organic Frameworks via Pore Wall Regulation: Efficient Selective Palladium Recovery From Metallurgical Wastewater

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Recovering palladium (Pd) from low‐concentration metallurgical wastewater still poses significant challenges. In this study, triaminoguanidine hydrochloride was used as the key functional site, and three guanidine‐functionalized covalent organic frameworks (GCOFs) were successfully constructed by adjusting the substituents (–H, –OH, and –OCH3)

Hierarchical Structured TiO2/Boron‐Doped Diamond for Efficient Photo‐Electrocatalytic Degradation

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The discharge of refractory organic dye wastewater poses a significant threat to the ecological environment, necessitating the development of efficient treatment technologies. Herein, a uniform TiO2 array (TiO2‐AR) electrode is fabricated using a combination of magnetron sputtering and a mask plate process with a boron‐doped diamond (BDD ...

High‐Value Targeted Conversion of Copper Slag as LiFePO4 Material for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The massive stockpiling of copper slag (CS) presents severe environmental and resource‐waste challenges. Existing strategies for CS valorization typically yield low‐value‐added products. Herein, we propose an innovative hierarchical regulation approach to transform CS into high‐performance LiFePO4 (LFP) cathode materials.

3D‐Printed Porous High‐Entropy Alloy Boosts Peroxymonosulfate Activation for Long‐Term Organic Pollutant Degradation

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐entropy alloys (HEAs) have attracted considerable interest from researchers owing to their tunable chemical compositions, exceptional structural stability, and promising catalytic properties. However, their large‐scale application is often hindered by complex manufacturing techniques and poor durability.

Development of Coupled Electrochemical Systems for Metal Resource Recovery From Aqueous Metal‐Organic Complexes

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The past decade has witnessed a burgeoning demand of metals for global industrial development and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the depletion of mineral resources and the environmental damage caused by wastewater discharges pose significant threats to both economic and ecological sustainability. Fortunately, metal‐containing wastewaters also hold

Surface Sulfate Modification Promoted Excitons Extraction of BiOBr Nanosheets for Efficient 1O2 Photosynthesis and Chlorophenols Dechlorination

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Photocatalytic molecular oxygen (O2) activation provides a sustainable approach to produce singlet oxygen (1O2) for organic contaminants detoxification. However, the charge carriers‐involved pathway usually suffers from unsatisfactory 1O2 production efficiency owing to energy loss caused by photogenerated hole‐mediated superoxide species (•O2−
