ABCA12 Frameshift Deletion in Domestic Cats With Ichthyosis Fetalis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 3, Page 365-374, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Ichthyosis fetalis (IF), also known as harlequin ichthyosis, is a rare and often fatal autosomal recessive congenital skin disorder. It is characterized by thickened, hard skin plaques and deep skin fissures that limit mobility and cause malformations of the eyes, lips and ears.

Effects of landscape fragmentation on floodplain fishes as revealed by species–habitat networks

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract How species interact with habitat patches is influenced primarily by habitat configuration (e.g., connectivity) and species’ functional traits. As levels of fragmentation increase, identifying the intricate connections between these components is crucial for biodiversity conservation.

Herbivore species and patch heterogeneity modulate grazing‐induced shifts in soil nematode trophic structure and energy flux

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 163-175, January 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Grazing by large herbivores is a critical factor shaping grassland biodiversity and ecosystem functioning worldwide, yet its consequences for soil communities remain poorly understood.

Return of the Swamp Rabbit: Sylvilagus aquaticus Occupancy Increased and Expanded Along the Northern Extent of Its Distribution Range

open access: yesWildlife Letters, Volume 3, Issue 4, Page 161-172, December 2025.
Swamp rabbit (Sulvilagus aquaticus) in southeast Missouri is increasing and expanding, with occupancy probabilities of 0.66 in 2010–2012 and 0.79 in 2021–2022. ABSTRACT Swamp rabbits (Sylvilagus aquaticus) are a bottomland hardwood specialist that have experienced range contraction at the northern and western extents of their range.

open access: yesZhongguo shiyan zhenduanxue, 2009

Finding floral and faunal species richness optima among active fire regimes

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Changing fire regimes have important implications for biodiversity and challenge traditional conservation approaches that rely on historical conditions as proxies for ecological integrity. This historical‐centric approach becomes increasingly tenuous under climate change, necessitating direct tests of environmental impacts on biodiversity.

The Value of Framingham Risk Score for Screening Carotid Vulnerable Atherosclerotic Plaques in the Asymptomatic Elderly

open access: yesZhongguo cuzhong zazhi, 2019

Importance of connectivity for carnivore richness and occupancy in fragmented biodiversity hotspots

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Structural connectivity affects wildlife movement between habitat patches, contributing to the persistence of wildlife populations and their resilience to human‐induced and environmental changes. However, its importance to wildlife population persistence remains unclear, particularly in fragmented landscapes, where there are additional co ...

First report of a papillomavirus‐induced viral plaque in the mouth of a dog

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 703-706, October 2025.
A mass that was histologically consistent with a pigmented viral plaque developed in the mouth of a dog. Canis familiaris papillomavirus type 16, which has been detected in cutaneous viral plaques, was amplified from the lesion. This is the first report of an oral viral plaque in a dog.

A Piece of the Puzzle: Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Newly Designated Qilianshan National Park (China) and Its Contribution to Snow Leopard (Panthera Uncia) Habitat Connectivity

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 3, Page 287-301, September 2025.
Qilianshan National Park covers approximately 40% of core snow leopard habitat patches and 50% of movement corridors between patches. Including more of these important areas within the park boundaries should be considered, as the Qilianshan National Park sits at a pivotal juncture between critical snow leopard habitat in China and Mongolia, and may ...
