LGBTQIA+ victimization: A theoretical discourse

open access: yesSexuality, Gender &Policy, Volume 6, Issue 4, Page 253-262, November 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper draws on social construction and broken window theories as theoretical frameworks to explain how LGBTQIA+ are victimized due to discrimination and nonacceptance in their communities. Homosexual groups face a high risk of violence, discrimination, and prejudice because of their sexual orientation.

Bridging the digital divide for Native American tribes: Roadblocks to broadband and community resilience

open access: yesPolicy &Internet, Volume 15, Issue 3, Page 306-326, September 2023., 2023
Abstract Native American reservations are faced with a growing need for High‐speed Internet and broadband access but face a variety of barriers to broadband infrastructure deployment. This paper discusses the difficulties tribal nations have faced in developing their education, economy, and access to healthcare and public safety due to the roadblocks ...

Making a case for the consideration of trust, justice, and power in conservation relationships

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 36, Issue 4, August 2022., 2022
Abstract In conservation, trust and justice are increasingly recognized as both intrinsically valuable and critical for successful socioecological outcomes. However, the interdependence between these concepts has not been explored. The conservation trust literature provides examples of efforts to build trust between conservationists and local actors ...

Multidimensional Poverty and Deprivation in Informal Settlements: A Gendered Perspective From the South African Multidimensional Poverty Index

open access: yesPoverty &Public Policy, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Rapid urbanisation and persistent socio‐economic inequality continue to entrench multidimensional poverty within South Africa's urban informal settlements, with women and female‐headed households experiencing disproportionate deprivation. This study analysed primary household survey data collected in 2023 from 322 households across three ...

Digital Nationalism in Comparative Perspective: Trump Blaming China on Social Media in the United States and China

open access: yesNations and Nationalism, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 57-74, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents one of the first comparative analyses of digital nationalism on social media. Using a computational mixed‐method approach—combining supervised, computer‐assisted content analysis with network modelling—it analyses 64,541 tweets from Twitter and 91,063 posts from Weibo surrounding a shared geopolitical flashpoint: President ...

A framework for promoting disciplinary diversity and inclusion through epistemic justice

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 6, December 2024.
Abstract Integrating diverse disciplines and knowledge practices into conservation offers new insights into the complex socioecological dynamics of conservation challenges and how to address them. Integration, however, is not simple; disciplines differ widely in their epistemic and professional commitments, theories, methods, applications, practices ...

We returned home empty‐handed: COVID‐19, care, and contested citizenship of Naga migrant workers in northeast India

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 48, Issue 3, July 2024.
COVID‐19 highlighted interconnections between matters of identity and citizenship, vulnerability, and inclusion in/exclusion from systems of care in times of crisis. Migrant workers from Nagaland state, northeast India, were disproportionately impacted by the pandemic's socioeconomic consequences.

open access: yesGaoya dianqi, 2015

open access: yesGaoya dianqi, 2018

open access: yesGaoya dianqi, 2020
