Metadiscourse and Teacher Moves for Supporting Student Reasoning in Linguistics Classroom Interactions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 522-539, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the features of metadiscourse across different teacher moves in university linguistics classroom discourse and the teaching strategies reflected in its use. The results reveal that teachers employ diverse metadiscourse during classroom interactions to support student reasoning.

Plant functional trait dissimilarity drives plant mixture effects on fine root biomass and trait variations

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 2, Page 764-776, January 2026.
Summary Fine roots are critical for soil resource uptake, yet how declining plant diversity alters fine root biomass (RB) and traits remains unclear. We tested how plant functional trait dissimilarity in shade tolerance, drought tolerance, growth rate, and nitrogen‐fixation ability drives variation in root attributes.

Factors influencing fine roots decomposition rates in response to nitrogen addition vary across root characteristics

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 12, Page 3504-3516, December 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Nitrogen (N) deposition strongly affects litter decomposition and nutrient release, thereby reshaping carbon cycling in terrestrial ecosystems. Although most studies have focused on above‐ground litter, the effects of N addition on fine root decomposition and their ...

A new beef: An analysis of discourse coalitions in the nascent cellular agriculture policy subsystem

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, Volume 42, Issue 6, Page 1404-1427, November 2025.
Abstract A robust approach to examining the nature and influence of coalitions in the policy process is the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF), which is especially useful to study policy issues fraught with scientific and technical controversy. Yet, important gaps exist in ACF literature regarding nascent policy subsystems. Consequently, there is scant

Strategies in Ericaceae to acquire phosphorus in phosphorus‐impoverished habitats in the southwest Australian biodiversity hotspot

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 10, Page 2889-2904, October 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract In the Southwest Australian Biodiversity Hotspot, the greatest plant species diversity tends to occur on the most phosphorus (P)‐impoverished soils. Many plant species in this P‐impoverished environment release root carboxylates that mobilise soil P which is a more ...

铝毒胁迫下磷对荞麦根系铝形态和分布的影响

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao, 2011
