Trans‐local action and local climate policy. Configurations of success for climate innovations in the European multilevel system

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1120-1143, November 2023., 2023

A legal assessment of private land conservation in South America

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 4, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Privately protected areas (PPAs) are a potentially innovative conservation tool. Legal recognition is necessary for their success, especially where there are institutional challenges to nature conservation, such as in South America. Although PPAs have increased in South America since the early 2000s, there is a critical information gap ...

Catalyzing sustainable fisheries management through behavior change interventions

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1176-1189, October 2020., 2020
Abstract Small‐scale fisheries are an important livelihood and primary protein source for coastal communities in many of the poorest regions in the world, yet many are overfished and thus require effective and scalable management solutions. Positive ecological and socioeconomic responses to management typically lag behind immediate costs borne by ...

Forest citizens and people‐centered conservation in the Brazilian Amazon

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2025.
Abstract Demands for territorial recognition are foundational to the claiming of rights by forest‐proximate people who attempt to conserve their forests. The rights of these often‐marginalized populations have been largely overlooked by conservationists, yet they are central to achieving people‐centered conservation. We further developed the concept of
