Histopathological characterisation of trunk‐dominant canine pemphigus foliaceus, and comparison with classic facial and insecticide‐triggered forms

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 425-440, October 2023., 2023
Background – While the clinical features were described recently, the histopathological characterisation of trunk‐dominant canine pemphigus foliaceus (PF) is lacking, and whether it differs from classic facial or insecticide‐triggered PF is unknown. Hypothesis/Objectives – This study describes the histopathological findings of trunk‐dominant PF, and ...

Stress hyperglycemia ratio is associated with systemic inflammation and clinical outcomes in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia on admission 糖尿病合并肺炎住院患者的应激性高血糖率与全身性炎症和临床结局相关

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 7, Page 545-556, July 2023., 2023
Highlights High stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) was associated with elevated systematic inflammation in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia on admission. In the absence of hypoglycemia on admission, SHR was of J‐shaped associations with adverse clinical outcomes in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia of different severity.

A randomised, double‐blinded comparison between subcutaneous rush and intralympathic allergen immunotherapy induction in atopic dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 34, Issue 2, Page 91-98, April 2023., 2023
Background – Atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the most common skin diseases in small animal practice. Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is the only curative treatment for the disease, and oral, subcutaneous and intralymphatic administration of allergens are commonly employed.

Increased neutrophil count Is associated with the development of chronic kidney disease in patients with diabetes 中性粒细胞计数升高与2型糖尿病患者慢性肾脏病变的发展相关

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 14, Issue 7, Page 442-454, July 2022., 2022
HighlightsNeutrophil count was an independent risk factor for CKD in patients with diabetes, especially when it exceeded 3.6 × 109/L, and increased neutrophil count could predict progression of CKD in patients with diabetes. Abstract Background This study aims to investigate the potential association of peripheral inflammatory blood cell parameters ...

Altered plasma cytokines in dogs with atopic dermatitis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 131-e38, April 2022., 2022
Background – Canine (Canis lupus familiaris) atopic dermatitis (AD) shares similar clinical signs to human AD. The abnormal immune response of AD is orchestrated by T lymphocytes, and may include variable involvement of cytokines, Regulatory T (Treg) cells, eosinophils, mast cells and other immune components.

Chinese Clinical Named Entity Recognition with ALBERT and MHA Mechanism

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Traditional clinical named entity recognition methods fail to balance the effectiveness of feature extraction of unstructured text and the complexity of neural network models. We propose a model based on ALBERT and a multihead attention (MHA) mechanism to solve this problem.

Immunopathogenesis and immunotherapy of Culicoides hypersensitivity in horses: an update

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 32, Issue 6, Page 579-e156, December 2021., 2021
Culicoides hypersensitivity (CH) is a strongly pruritic dermatitis of horses, characterised histologically by mixed perivascular to diffuse cellular infiltrates of mononuclear cells and eosinophils, and caused by helper T cell (Th)2, immunoglobulin (Ig)E‐mediated reactions to antigens present in the saliva of biting Culicoides midges.

Immunopathogenesis of the feline atopic syndrome

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 13-e4, February 2021., 2021

Key n‐Gram Extractions and Analyses of Different Registers Based on Attention Network

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Key n -gram extraction can be seen as extracting n‐grams which can distinguish different registers. Keyword (as n = 1, 1‐gram is the keyword) extraction models are generally carried out from two aspects, the feature extraction and the model design.

Serum concentrations of IL‐31 in dogs with nonpruritic mast cell tumours or lymphoma

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 31, Issue 6, Page 466-e124, December 2020., 2020
Background The aim of this study was to compare serum interleukin (IL)‐31 concentrations in dogs with lymphoma and mast cell tumours (MCT) without pruritus to those of healthy dogs. Hypothesis/Objectives To determine if IL‐31 plays a role in tumour pathogenesis and if IL‐31 could be a biological marker for disease progression.
