Highlights The protein pyrrole adducts in both plasma and urine correlated well with glucose indices, namely fasting blood glucose (FBG) and glycate hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c). Elevated plasma pyrrole adducts was related to positive distal symmetric polyneuropathy (DSPN) symptoms and a high resting heart rate.

Glomerular cell cross talk in diabetic kidney diseases 糖尿病肾病中肾小球细胞间的相互作用
Highlights Glomerular cell cross talk is essential for maintaining the glomerular filtration barrier. In‐depth exploration of intraglomerular signaling pathway changes during diabetic kidney disease may help discover new therapeutic targets. Abstract Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a severe microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus.

HighlightsNeutrophil count was an independent risk factor for CKD in patients with diabetes, especially when it exceeded 3.6 × 109/L, and increased neutrophil count could predict progression of CKD in patients with diabetes. Abstract Background This study aims to investigate the potential association of peripheral inflammatory blood cell parameters ...

HighlightsAssociation of lipid variability with diabetic microvascular complications. Abstract Background Greater lipid variability may cause adverse health events among diabetic patients. We aimed to examine the effect of lipid variability on the risk of diabetic microvascular outcomes among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.

Highlights Provide key information on the correlation between kidney disease measures and arterial stiffness by evaluating urine albumin‐creatinine ratio and estimated glomerular filtration rate simultaneously in a large sample with type 2 diabetes. Improving management of arterial stiffness, before reaching the chronic kidney disease stage, should ...

Highlights Diabetic kidney disease is a progressive disease with the pathology of glomerular damage and loss of podocytes. Sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) can be expected to decrease the amount of podocyte excretion. Male patients receiving SGLT2i have better diabetic kidney disease‐related parameters and podocyturia levels. Abstract

Highlights C3c deposition in the kidney was associated with worse renal outcomes and was an independent predictor for ESRD in DKD patients with T2DM. C3c deposition in the kidney might be a novel biomarker indicating DKD progression in T2DM. Abstract Background Although extensive efforts have been paid to identify reliable predictors for renal outcomes

Aldose reductase regulates miR-200a/miR-141 to impact TGFβ signaling and renal fibrogenesis [PDF]
