四川大学学报. 自然科学版, 1998 提出了变结构密码算法的概念．该算法是由可变结构密码算法及其结构初值更新算法组成的，而结构初值更新算法是由密码学的综合算符组成的．因为结构初值更新算法的结果不在信道中传输，故利用信道中截取的数据是不可能破译变结构密码算法的．启动变结构与启动固定结构保密机的方法大致一样，只需发送一组用户初值和结构初值，不必每更新一次密码算法的结构就从安全信道发送一组用户初值和结构初值．
