MIRACLE URBANIZATION: Spatial Production and Political Legitimation in the Sochi 2014 and Beijing 2022 Olympics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract From desert ski resorts to subtropical Winter Games, there is a global proliferation of ‘mission‐impossible’ mega‐projects. The prevailing frameworks of city branding and urban entrepreneurism fail to explain the political logics behind these seemingly irrational projects.

Scientists’ warning on the global destruction of rock outcrop ecosystems

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Rock outcrops are geological formations that harbor a highly specialized biota adapted to harsh environmental conditions that differ from their surrounding landscapes. They are globally distributed, especially in old, highly weathered landscapes, and can function as habitat islands containing high levels of endemism and distinct evolutionary ...

Insights Into the Temperature‐Dependent Oxidation Mechanism of Metallic Cerium in H2O‐N2 Atmospheres

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Metallic cerium (Ce), a widely used surrogate for actinide metals, enables mechanistic studies of reactions in complex gas environments under controlled and safer laboratory conditions. Here, the oxidation behavior of Ce in H2O‐N2 mixed atmospheres was investigated from 200°C to 350°C using in situ thermogravimetry–mass spectrometry, in situ X‐

Synergistic Hydrogen Evolution and Methanol Oxidation Over BiOIO3/Zn3In2S6 Heterojunction Photocatalyst via Interfacial Charge Steering

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Because of superior transportability and high energy capacity, methanol is regarded as a potential hydrogen carrier. Photocatalytic methanol dehydrogenation offers a sustainable and cost‐effective method for releasing hydrogen. Conventional photocatalysts face challenging obstacles, including the low catalytic efficiency and rapid ...

Manipulating the D‐Band Center of Confined Nickel by Lattice Strain Strategy for Efficient Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Nickel‐based materials are highly remarkable as promising transition metal catalysts for the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline electrolytes. However, their electrochemical performance is limited by an unfavorable d‐band energy (Ed) level. Herein, we showcase an effective lattice‐strain strategy to modulate the Ed of

Advances in BiOCl‐Based Photocatalysts: From Synthesis, Structural Tailoring to Solar Energy Conversion

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Semiconductor photocatalysis represents a pivotal frontier in the quest for sustainable energy and environmental remediation. Among the diverse catalytic materials, Bismuth Oxychloride (BiOCl) has emerged as a particularly promising candidate due to its unique layered structure, featuring [Bi2O2]2+ layers intertwined with halogen ions, which ...

Atomically Dispersed Platinum Sites Immobilized on NiFe LDH by Controlling Localized Amorphization for Efficient Alkaline Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Platinum (Pt) single‐atom catalyst (SAC) shows great promise for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), but faces a huge challenge in activity enhancement due to the isolated single‐atom sites. Fabricating support with partially amorphous (pa) structures to realize the synergetic interaction in neighboring single atoms could facilitate H2O ...

Superior Abrasibility of YSZ(ESP)/BN@ZrO2‐Polyester Composite Sealing Coating Reinforcing With Hybrid Micron/Nanometer Multiscaled Pore Structure

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Composite materials hold significant potential for abrasive sealing, yet composite materials used for abrasive sealing fall short in service durability under extreme environments. Here, a controllable strategy for adjusting pore structure is proposed, aiming to design a YSZ(ESP)/BN@ZrO2‐polyester coating with hybrid micron/nanometer ...

聚丙烯疏水膜处理低浓度氨氮废水的试验研究

open access: yesGongye shui chuli, 2016

Oxygen‐Vacancy‐Engineered Ni‐Fe Layered Double Hydroxides Enables Ultralow‐Overpotential Hydrogen Evolution Reaction and Durable Overall Water Splitting

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are attractive non‐noble catalysts for overall water splitting (OWS), yet their hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity is often limited by suboptimal *H adsorption and a paucity of accessible sites. Herein, we introduce an oxygen‐vacancy (Ov) engineering strategy to construct ultrathin Ni‐Fe LDH nanosheets ...
