Corrosion and passive film characteristics of 3D‐printed NiTi shape memory alloys in artificial saliva

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 42, Issue 9, Page 3114-3129, September 2023., 2023
Graphic Abstract Abstract Electrochemical tests and surface analysis were applied to study the corrosion behavior and passive film characteristics of three‐dimensional‐printed NiTi shape memory alloys fabricated by laser‐powder bed fusion (L‐PBF) in artificial saliva at 37 °C. The passivity of L‐PBF NiTi shows to be influenced by the process parameters

Influence of Alkaline Earth Barium on the Microstructure, Corrosion Behavior, and Cytocompatibility of Biodegradable Zinc

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Biodegradable Zn‐based alloys are promising candidates for temporary implants, yet excessive Zn2+ release during degradation may induce cytotoxicity and adverse tissue responses. In this study, Zn‐xBa alloys (x = 0.1 wt%, 0.5 wt%, 1.0 wt% and 3.0 wt%) were developed to achieve controlled corrosion behaviors with improved biocompatibility.

From Dendrite Accelerator to Suppressor: Engineering a Self‐Assembled Monolayer for Ultrafast and Dendrite‐Free Zinc Deposition

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries are plagued by anode challenges such as dendrite growth and corrosion, which stem from intrinsic surface heterogeneity. Although constructing a homogeneous interfacial layer is a promising strategy, conventional electrolyte additives often suffer from incomplete or unstable coverage.

Unveiling Temperature‐Dependent Corrosion Behaviors of FeNiCrMoCBY Amorphous Alloy Coatings In Spent‐Fuel Storage Environments

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT A comparative study was performed to elucidate the temperature‐dependent corrosion kinetics and the semiconductor/structural characteristics of the passive film formed on Fe40Ni7Cr17Mo12C13B9Y2 (at%) amorphous alloy coatings. The results indicate that increasing temperature accelerates the corrosion kinetics of the coating.
