Using a 3‐year, broad‐scale camera‐trap network in western Kansas, we tested whether coyotes and American badgers exhibit spatiotemporal patterns consistent with coordinated hunting. Despite high diel activity overlap, detection‐conditioned co‐detections occurred far less frequently than expected under independence, and short‐term temporal sequencing ...

Local Ecological Knowledge Reveals the Distribution of Cryptic Nocturnal Wildlife
Many nocturnal animals are difficult to study because they are rarely seen, including nocturnal primates, galagos and pottos, in West Africa. Working with over 600 people in 52 villages in southern Guinea‐Bissau, we found that communities frequently recognized galagos by their red eyeshine and distinctive calls, while pottos were not known.

Using incentive payments to promote human–carnivore coexistence
Abstract For many large carnivores, minimizing the financial burden they impose on local people is critical to their conservation. Incentive‐based programs that provide people with financial benefits for taking pro‐conservation actions or achieving conservation goals are a promising tool for promoting human–carnivore coexistence. Although the number of

Urbanization may alter bird foraging. Austral Parakeets (Enicognathus ferrugineus) in Patagonia rely on introduced plants in urban areas, especially in winter, despite preferring natives in the wild. This seasonal reliance on introduced species highlights urbanization trade‐offs and underscores the need to manage green areas with native plants to ...

We collated detections of the sun bear from new and previously published camera trap studies across its range. We then analysed these detections at two different spatial scales to assess the habitat associations and diel activity of this species. We found that the sun bear is tolerant to moderate habitat disturbances. ABSTRACT Degraded tropical forests,

This study investigates distribution patterns of Galliforms in the Indian Himalayas, focusing on factors influencing their occurrence, regions of high diversity and endemism, and their overlap with protected areas. Our study highlights the need for assemblage‐level conservation strategies in high Himalaya which primarily relies on snow leopard‐focused ...

A review of 192 articles published between 1985 and 2023 revealed that human–jaguar conflict literature has focused on the human dimensions of conflict, jaguar killings, attacks on domestic animals and humans, and management. Several research gaps remain including: policy enforcement, interdisciplinary research, relevant geographic locations and ...
