Untangling Colour Diversity: Ecogeographic Patterns in Two Scolopendra Species Revealed by Citizen Science

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Using citizen‐science records, we analysed ecogeographic patterns of colour polymorphism in two closely related centipede species across Japan. While two colour morphs in Scolopendra mutilans are broadly sympatric, they are geographically restricted in S. japonica despite overlapping climatic niches and biotic interactions.

HIF2A as a prognostic and clinical therapeutic target in ovarian clear cell carcinoma

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 11, Page 2957-2971, 1 June 2026.
What's new? Ovarian clear cell carcinoma is highly associated with hypoxia. Hypoxia‐inducible factor 2A (HIF2A) is a key regulator of hypoxic responses, but its role in ovarian clear cell carcinoma remains unclear. This study demonstrated the unfavorable prognostic significance of HIF2A expression in ovarian clear cell carcinoma.

Japanese Cohort Study and Meta‐Analysis Demonstrate Significant Association Between Serotonin Transporter‐Linked Polymorphic Region and Schizophrenia

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 2, June 2026.
This study demonstrates a significant association between the 5‐HTTLPR polymorphism and schizophrenia risk. The short allele was significantly overrepresented in patients (OR = 1.39, p = 0.007), suggesting a potential contribution to schizophrenia risk.

Japanese Cohort Study Identifies an Association Between the Serotonin Transporter–Linked Polymorphic Region and Suicide Death

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 2, June 2026.
The odds ratios and corresponding 95% confidence intervals for suicide death by 5‐HTTLPR S allele, in main and subgroup analyses. Statistical significance is indicated. ABSTRACT Introduction More than 720 000 individuals die by suicide annually worldwide, making it a major public health concern and a leading cause of death among young people ...

Happiness and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Symptoms as Mediated by Subjective Health Conditions: A Nationwide Cross‐Sectional Internet Survey

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 2, June 2026.
ADHD symptoms were associated with lower happiness, largely mediated by somatic and mental health factors—particularly physical symptoms, confusion/difficulty concentrating, and depression—highlighting the importance of targeting these modifiable mediators to improve well‐being.

Intrinsic motivation to study and amotivation for most frequently performed activities: Association with increased non‐specific psychological distress

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Aim Non‐specific psychological distress is closely associated with the risk of depression. Accordingly, assessing motivation on this distress can provide important information for preventing depression. In this study, we investigated the relationship between motivational state and non‐specific psychological distress in participants with a 1 ...
