Effects of timing and morphology of blastomere cleavage on gene expression profiles of bovine in vitro fertilized embryos

open access: yesThe Journal of Reproduction and Development
To efficiently produce high-quality bovine calves by transferring embryos obtained from in vitro fertilization (IVF), it is important to evaluate their ability to conceive and their ability to develop into normal litters. In this study, we aimed

Epitaxial Growth and Electrical Properties of VO2 on LSAT (111) substrate

open access: yes, 2018
We report the epitaxial growth and the electrical properties, especially the metal-to-insulator transition (MIT), of vanadium dioxide (VO2) thin films synthesized on LSAT (111) ([LaAlO3]0.3[Sr2AlTaO6]0.7) substrates by pulsed laser deposition.

Silicified Wood‐Inspired, High‐Strength Fire‐Resistant Chitin‐Based Aerogels for Sustainable High‐Temperature Thermal Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural silicified wood, a biomimetic mineralized chitin‐derived aerogel is constructed. It can withstand 81 000 times its own weight, and its backside temperature is 130.4°C after exposure to ∼1300°C butane flame for 600 s, exhibiting high‐strength, fire‐resistance, and super thermal‐insulation properties.
