Local model of a qubit in the interferometric setup
We consider a typical realization of a qubit as a single particle in two-path interferometric circuits built from phase shifters, beam splitters and detectors. This framework is often taken as a standard example illustrating various paradoxes and quantum

Feynman's Path Integrals and Bohm's Particle Paths [PDF]
Both Bohmian mechanics, a version of quantum mechanics with trajectories, and Feynman's path integral formalism have something to do with particle paths in space and time. The question thus arises how the two ideas relate to each other.

Loss of coherence in double-slit diffraction experiments [PDF]
7 págs.; 3 figs.; PACS numberssd: 03.65.Yz, 03.65.Ta, 03.75.DgThe effects of incoherence and decoherence in a double-slit experiment are studied using both optical and quantum-phenomenological models.

Mutually unbiased measurements in finite dimensions
We generalize the concept of mutually unbiased bases (MUB) to measurements which are not necessarily described by rank one projectors. As such, these measurements can be a useful tool to study the long-standing problem of the existence of MUB.

Reconfigurable topological waveguide based on honeycomb lattice of dielectric cuboids
Abstract We show that the photonic crystal (PhC) made of dielectric cuboids with their centers forming a honeycomb lattice is characterized by a ℤ2 topological index when the longer sides of six cuboids point towards the center of hexagonal unit cell.

Operational discord measure for Gaussian states with Gaussian measurements
We introduce an operational discord-type measure for quantifying nonclassical correlations in bipartite Gaussian states based on using Gaussian measurements. We refer to this measure as operational Gaussian discord (OGD).

When a measurement is compatible with each of two other measurements that are incompatible with one another, these define distinct contexts for the given measurement. The Kochen–Specker theorem rules out models of quantum theory that satisfy a particular

Branched Hamiltonians and Supersymmetry
Some examples of branched Hamiltonians are explored both classically and in the context of quantum mechanics, as recently advocated by Shapere and Wilczek. These are in fact cases of switchback potentials, albeit in momentum space, as previously analyzed

The effect of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) sprayed on cotton healthy leaves was evaluated in terms of inherent bioactive chemicals induction. The total phenolic content significantly increased after MeJA 5.0 mM treatments compared to the other tested concentrations (0; 2.5; 10; 15; 20 mM).

Dynamical decoupling leads to improved scaling in noisy quantum metrology
We consider the usage of dynamical decoupling in quantum metrology, where the joint evolution of system plus environment is described by a Hamiltonian. We show that by ultra-fast unitary control operations acting locally only on system qubits, noise can ...
