Evaluation of filaggrin 2 expression in dogs with atopic dermatitis before and after oclacitinib maleate administration

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 453-461, August 2025.
Background – Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a chronic, inflammatory, multifactorial and pruritic disease. The presence of skin barrier impairment (e.g. filaggrin alterations), along with abnormal immune responses, can negatively impact cutaneous barrier function.

Dynamics of spatially modulated kinks in shallow granular layers

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We report on the experimental observation and characterization of the bifurcation diagram, dynamical properties and fluctuations of spatially modulated kinks in a shallow one-dimensional fluidized granular layer subjected to a periodic air flow.

Reply to ''Comment on 'Regularizing Capacity of Metabolic Networks' ''

open access: yes, 2007
In a recent paper [C. Marr, M. Mueller-Linow, and M.-T. Huett, Phys. Rev. E 75, 041917 (2007)] we discuss the pronounced potential of real metabolic network topologies, compared to randomized counterparts, to regularize complex binary dynamics.

Analysis of the immunomodulatory properties of mycobacterium cell wall fraction on the cytokine production of peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 35, Issue 6, Page 595-604, December 2024.
Background – Mycobacterium cell wall fraction (MCWF) is derived from nonpathogenic Mycobacterium phlei and is used as an immunomodulatory compound in clinical practice, yet its mode‐of‐action requires further research. Objective – To evaluate the host response to MCWF in canine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) by using enzyme‐linked ...

Timing of transients: quantifying reaching times and transient behavior in complex systems

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
In dynamical systems, one may ask how long it takes for a trajectory to reach the attractor, i.e. how long it spends in the transient phase. Although for a single trajectory the mathematically precise answer may be infinity, it still makes sense to ...

Testing reliability and validity of practitioner‐rated parental sensitivity: A novel tool for practice

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 234-246, March 2024.
Abstract Improving parental sensitivity is an important objective of interventions to support families. This study examined reliability and validity of parental sensitivity ratings using a novel package of an e‐learning tool and an interactive decision tree provided through a mobile application, called the OK! package.

Slow-fast effect and generation mechanism of brusselator based on coordinate transformation

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2016
The Brusselator with different time scales, which behaves in the classical slow-fast effect, is investigated, and is characterized by the coupling of the quiescent and spiking states.

Bifurcation scenario to Nikolaevskii turbulence in small systems

open access: yes, 2005
We show that the chaos in Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation occurs through period-doubling cascade (Feigenbaum scenario), in contrast, the chaos in Nikolaevskii equation occurs through torus-doubling bifurcation (Ruelle-Takens-Newhouse scenario).Comment ...

Fabrication, organoleptic evaluation and in vitro characterization of cream loaded with Carica papaya seed extract

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 23, Issue 3, Page 1045-1054, March 2024.
Abstract Objective The current study aimed to provide preliminary insights into potential biopharmaceutical applications of Carica papaya seed extract by evaluating its phytochemical and biological profiles. Furthermore, the study aimed to develop a stable oil‐in‐water (O/W) emulsion for the effective delivery of antioxidant‐rich biologicals for ...

Effect of Pressure Distribution on the Energy Dissipation of Lap Joints under Equal Pre-tension Force

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2019
In this paper, the energy dissipation in a bolted lap joint is studied using a continuum microslip model. Five contact pressure distributions compliant with the power law are considered, and all of them have equal pretension forces.
