Oat variety testing for tolerance to nematode-caused “tulip root”

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1971
Eight oat varieties were tested for tolerance to the nematode ditylenchus dipsaci, the causal agent of tulip root in coastal areas of southern California. The field in which the varieties were to be tested had been planted to oats for several years.

Evolution of enzymatic activity in the tautomerase superfamily: Mechanistic and structural studies of the 1,3-dichloropropene catabolic enzymes

open access: yes, 2004
The use of the soil fumigant Telone II, which contains a mixture of cis- and trans-1,3-dichloropropene, to control plant-parasitic nematodes is a common agricultural practice for maximizing yields of various crops.

Occurrence of Microplastics in the Sediments of an Irish River and Their Effects on Nematode Survival and Biodiversity

open access: yesApplied Biosciences
Microplastics (MPs), defined as plastic particles of less than 5 mm, pose a significant global environmental threat, particularly in aquatic ecosystems, due to their persistence and potential harmful effects on wildlife and human health.

Nephrotoxicity of 1,3-dichloropropene in vitro and effects of metabolism modifiers

open access: yes, 1996
1,3-Dichloropropene (1,3-D) is largely used in agriculture as a soil fumigant. The few reports on toxicological effects show that liver and kidney are the main targets. The current research assesses the effects caused by 1,3-D dissolved in ethanol (0.2-1.

1,3-dichloropropene and 1,2-dibromoethane compounds: Part I. Movement and fate as affected by various conditions in several soils

open access: yes
The approximate movement and fate of 1,3-dichloropropene (Telone,® D-D,® or Vidden-D®) and 1-2-dibromoethane (EDB) in two soils were predicted using extrapolations from laboratory experiments and soil-vapor phase concentrations obtained from simulated ...
