Bacterial Dichloropropene Degradation in Soil; Screening of Soils and Involvement of Plasmids Carrying the dhlA Gene [PDF]
The nematocide cis-1,3-dichloropropene is widely used in intensive agricultural practice against root knot nematodes. As a result of the regular application of dichloropropene to six out of eight different soils, the compound was rapidly degraded to CO2,

Tackling toxins: Case studies of industrial pollutants and implications for climate policy
Abstract As scholars race to address the climate crisis, they have often treated the problem as sui generis and have only rarely sought to learn from prior efforts to make industrial operations greener. In this paper, we consider what can be learned from other shifts away from polluting substances.

Formation of chlorobenzenes by oxidative thermal decomposition of 1,3-dichloropropene [PDF]
We combine combustion experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations to investigate the formation of chlorobenzenes from oxidative thermal decomposition of 1,3-dichloropropene. Mono- to hexa-chlorobenzenes are observed between 800 and 1150.

Reducing 1,3-Dichloropropene Emissions from Soil Columns Amended with Thiourea
Soil fumigants are becoming an important source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air, especially in some agricultural areas. In this study, we used thiourea to construct a reactive surface barrier (RSB) at the soil surface for reducing 1,3 ...

Site-Specific Nematode Management for Potatoes in Idaho Using 1,3-Dichloropropene; Experiences and Economics [PDF]
Fumigation for nematode management in irrigated potato production systems of Idaho is widely practiced. Spatially uniform fumigation with large scale soil injection equipment is the only labeled application method for 1,3-dichloropropene. Plant-parasitic

Preplant fumigation for sugar beet nematode on cabbage
Preplant fumigation with 1,3-dichloropropene and related chlorinated C3 hydrocarbons and Agel TG-67 significantly increased cabbage yields over the untreated check where the nematode Heterodera schachtii was present in high numbers. Some weed control was
