Monte Carlo simulation of metal deposition on foreign substrates [PDF]

open access: yesSurface Science 600 (2006) 4741-4751, 2008
The deposition of a metal on a foreign substrate is studied by means of grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations and a lattice-gas model with pair potential interactions between nearest neighbors. The influence of temperature and surface defects on adsorption isotherms and differential heat of adsorption is considered.

Evaluating the origin and spread of spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) in Japan

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, Volume 67, Issue 2, Page 162-179, April 2025.
The invasive spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) is native to China and is a serious economic pest in the Republic of Korea and the United States, though it is not considered a pest in Japan. We established a distribution map of L. delicatula in Japan through a comprehensive review of published literature and citizen science reports and analyzed ...

Improved background modeling for dark matter search with COSINE-100

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
COSINE-100 aims to conclusively test the claimed dark matter annual modulation signal detected by DAMA/LIBRA collaboration. DAMA/LIBRA has released updated analysis results by lowering the energy threshold to 0.75 keV through various upgrades.

Signature of a highly spin polarized resonance state at Co2MnSi(001)/Ag(001) interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We investigated interfaces of halfmetallic Co2MnSi(100) Heusler thin films with Ag(100), Cr(100), Cu and Al layers relevant for spin valves by high energy x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (HAXPES). Experiments on Co2MnSi samples with an Ag(100) interface showed a characteristic spectral shoulder feature close to the Fermi edge, which is strongly ...

Comparison of kinship‐identification methods for robust stock assessment using close‐kin mark–recapture data for Pacific bluefin tuna

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, Volume 67, Issue 2, Page 140-152, April 2025.
In this study, we compared three methods for kinship identification using different algorithms in samples of wild Pacific bluefin tuna and generated genotyping data. The three methods resulted in different numbers of inferred kinship pairs for both generated and actual data. Particularly for the half‐sibling pairs, considerable number of false‐positive

Results of a study of bivalve molluscs of central Asia = Итоги исследования двустворчатых моллюсков Центральной Азии [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The article is devoted to many years’ research (1972 - 2001) of bivalve mollusks of Central Asia. It is established that it is inhabited by 51 species of molluscs belonging to 16 genera, 8 families and three orders.

Shape Transition to a Rare Shape Phase of Prolate Non-collective in A = 100 Isobars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A theoretical investigation on the shape transitions with neutron number, temperature and spin for A $=$100 isobars of Z$=$42 to 50 is presented. A variety of shape transitions are observed while moving from neutron rich 100 Mo to proton rich 100 Sn with predominant triaxial shapes. Temperature and spin induced shape transitions are explored within the

Body size evolution as a catalyst for diversification of copulation strategies and its spillover effects on genital evolution and phylogenetic divergence in terrestrial arthropods

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
A scenario in which divergent selection derived from ecological environments leads to genital divergence through body size evolution. Abstract To explore how ecological diversity contributes to the establishment of ecologically similar species with sexual divergence, this review focuses on body size—an environmentally influenced trait that determines ...

Prediction of a surface state and a related surface insulator-metal transition for the (100) surface of stochiometric EuO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We calculate the temperature and layer-dependent electronic structure of a 20-layer EuO(100)-film using a combination of first-principles and model calculation based on the ferromagnetic Kondo-lattice model. The results suggest the existence of a EuO(100) surface state which can lead to a surface insulator-metal transition.

The dual nature of TDC – bridging dendritic and T cells in immunity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
TDC are hematopoietic cells combining dendritic and T cell features. They reach secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) and peripheral organs (liver and lungs) after FLT3‐dependent development in the bone marrow and maturation in the thymus. TDC are activated and enriched in SLOs upon viral infection, suggesting that they might play unique immune roles, since
