Improving Taro (Colocasia esculenta [L.] Schott.) Genotypes for Resistance to Taro Leaf Blight Disease in Ghana

open access: yesAdvances in Agriculture, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study explored the variation in taro leaf blight disease (TLBD) in Colocasia esculenta by examining five parent genotypes and their corresponding 20 single‐cross hybrids. A full diallel crossing design was employed and assessed under both naturally occurring field infections and controlled artificial inoculations.

Heavy Metal Contamination in Chocolates and Candies: Sources, Health Risks, and Analytical Insights

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The presence of heavy metals in chocolates and candies poses growing public health concerns, particularly for children who are frequent consumers. This review consolidates evidence on the occurrence, sources, toxicological impacts, and analytical monitoring of metals, including Pb, Cd, Hg, As, Cr, Ni, and Al, in confectionery products.

Variational Approach to Yang--Mills Theory with non-Gaussian Wave Functionals

open access: yes, 2010
A general method for treating non-Gaussian wave functionals in quantum field theory is presented and applied to the Hamiltonian approach to Yang-Mills theory in Coulomb gauge in order to include a three-gluon kernel in the exponential of the vacuum wave ...

Prognostic significance of somatic mutations in myeloid cells of men with chronic heart failure – interaction between loss of Y chromosome and clonal haematopoiesis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, Volume 27, Issue 12, Page 3219-3234, December 2025.
Abstract Aims Age‐associated clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) has been linked to increased incidence and worse prognosis of chronic heart failure (CHF). CHIP arises from somatic mutations in haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Mosaic loss of Y chromosome (LOY), the most common somatic mutation in male blood cells, increases

A new genus of jumping spiders (Araneae: Salticidae) inhabiting the South Island New Zealand rocky alpine zone

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Zoology, Volume 52, Issue 5, Page 716-795, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The spider family Salticidae (jumping spiders) is among the most heavily researched groups of invertebrates globally. Nevertheless, in Aotearoa New Zealand most species have never been studied. While it is estimated that approximately 200 endemic salticid species are found across the country, only around 50 have been described and fewer than ...

A nonperturbative coupled-cluster method for quantum field theories

open access: yes, 2012
The nonperturbative Hamiltonian eigenvalue problem for bound states of a quantum field theory is formulated in terms of Dirac's light-front coordinates and then approximated by the exponential-operator technique of the many-body coupled-cluster method ...

A Cross‐Sectional Evaluation of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Functions During Aging and Pregnancy in the Cynomolgus Monkey

open access: yesJournal of Medical Primatology, Volume 54, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Cardiovascular and hemodynamic status can both be modified by cardiovascular risk factors which themselves depend on housing conditions. Methods Cynomolgus macaques maintained in large enclosures allowing them to perform physical exercise and social interactions were evaluated for cardiovascular and metabolic parameters in three age

Classification performances of two diode arrays for patient‐specific quality assurance of stereotactic body radiation therapy treatments based on absolute dose measurements in phantom

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Background Despite the rapid growth in the clinical practice, no specific recommendations on pre‐treatment patient‐specific quality assurance of volumetric modulated arc therapy‐based stereotactic body radiation therapy plans have been established.

Prediction of the Methane Yield From Extensively Managed, Flower‐Rich Fen Grassland Based on NIRS Data

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 17, Issue 7, July 2025.
Biogas production from grasslands in Europe is important for sustainable energy, but predicting biogas yield from mixed, flower‐rich grasslands has been challenging due to variable biomass quality and limitations of existing models. This study analyzed flower‐rich fen grassland biomass, finding it to have high fiber and protein content, and ...
