137Cs distribution in guava trees [PDF]
This paper presents results of 137 Cs concentration measured from a guava tree cultivated after the first decontamination work of one of the sites where the worst Brazilian radiological accident occurred. The present work aims to verify how the 137 Cs is transported and distributed along the tropical trees.

ABSTRACT Lightweight and lead‐free radiation shielding materials remain urgently needed. This work designed a fluorite high‐entropy oxide (FHEO) system through a combined computational–experimental route. Density functional theory based on special quasi‐random structures was used to identify thermodynamically stable fluorites from a wide compositional ...

Distribution of 137Cs Radionuclide in Industrial Wastes Effluents of Gresik, East Java, Indonesia
The distribution of anthropogenic radionuclides 137Cs was measured from industrial waste effluent of Gresik to Gresik Sea in east Java, Indonesia. The activity of 37Cs detected at all stations was much lower than in northeast Japan both before and after ...

Following the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident in 2011, tissue samples from wild boar (Sus scrofa) outside the evacuation zone (difficult-to-return zone, DRZ) tended to show high activity concentrations of cesium-137 (137Cs).

Training Future Engineers to Be Ghostbusters: Hunting for the Spectral Environmental Radioactivity [PDF]
Although environmental radioactivity is all around us, the collective public imagination often associates a negative feeling to this natural phenomenon.

Abstract Benthic iron (Fe) fluxes from coastal sediments support phytoplankton blooms downstream of subpolar islands. We combine solid‐phase and pore‐water geochemical data, including its iron isotopic signature (δ56Feaq), to identify the main drivers of benthic Fe fluxes from sub‐Antarctic fjord and shelf sediments of South Georgia, and to evaluate ...

An Airborne and Vehicular Gamma Survey of Greenham Common, Newbury District and Surrounding Areas [PDF]
The airborne gamma ray survey recorded more than 40,000 scintillation spectra and 20,000 spectra from semiconductor detectors. The vehicular survey produced a further 1346 and 763 spectral sets respectively. The installation, calibration, recording and
