Synergistic recruitment of UbcH7~Ub and phosphorylated Ubl domain triggers parkin activation [PDF]
The E3 ligase parkin ubiquitinates outer mitochondrial membrane proteins during oxidative stress and is linked to early-onset Parkinson’s disease. Parkin is autoinhibited but is activated by the kinase PINK1 that phosphorylates ubiquitin leading to ...

Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

A bifunctional metal‐organic framework (MOF) catalyst with dual active sites is developed for enabling NH2OH electrosynthesis via NitRR with both high selectivity and activity. ABSTRACT Electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NitRR) offers a promising route for hydroxylamine (NH2OH) synthesis under ambient conditions.

Extremely low-frequency spectroscopy in low-field nuclear magnetic resonance
We demonstrate a new phenomenon in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, in which nuclear spin transitions are induced by radio frequency irradiation at extremely low frequencies (of the order of a few Hz).

An initial event in insect innate immune response: structural and biological studies of interactions between β-1,3-glucan and the N-terminal domain of β-1,3-glucan recognition protein [PDF]
In response to invading microorganisms, insect β-1,3-glucan recognition protein (βGRP), a soluble receptor in the hemolymph, binds to the surfaces of bacteria and fungi and activates serine protease cascades that promote destruction of pathogens by means

Soybean Auxin Transporter PIN3 Regulates Nitrate Acquisition to Improve Nitrogen Use and Seed Traits
Xu et al. discovers that switching off auxin transporters in soybean, PIN3a and PIN3b, disrupts auxin flow; this triggers ARF‐STF3/4 signal cascade to activate the nitrate importer NPF2.13 and soil nitrogen acquisition. Multi‐year field trials show edited soybeans maintain yield with higher oil content, offering a potential genetic route to improve ...

Metal‐Mediated Nitrogen Doping of Carbon Supports Boosts Hydrogen Production from Ammonia
A virtuous catalytic cycle is established as the carbon support simultaneously tunes electron density and stores atomic nitrogen formed via Ru–N species during ammonia decomposition, resulting in self‐enhancing catalysis. Abstract Ammonia is an attractive hydrogen carrier, yet its practical use is limited by the need for efficient catalytic ...
