Gas‐phase basicity of 2‐furaldehyde
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 20122‐Furaldehyde (2‐FA), also known as furfural or 2‐furancarboxaldehyde, is an heterocyclic aldehyde that can be obtained from the thermal dehydration of pentose monosaccharides. This molecule can be considered as an important sustainable intermediate for the preparation of a great variety of chemicals, pharmaceuticals and furan‐based polymers.

HPLC determination of 2-furaldehyde and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde in alcoholic beverages
Microchemical Journal, 2006Abstract A method for the determination of 2-furaldehyde (F) and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (HMF) in alcoholic beverages by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is described. A C-18 column and an acetonitrile–water mobile phase with isocratic elution were used. UV detection at 280 nm was carried out.

Liquid chromatographic determination of 2-furaldehyde and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde in beer
Analytica Chimica Acta, 1995Abstract A method for the determination of 2-furaldehyde (F) and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (HMF) in beer by liquid chromatography (LC) is described. The method is based on the formation of the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones of carbonyl compounds and subsequent reversed-phase separation of these derivatives. Derivatization is carried out by utilizing

Vibrational spectra of 2-furaldehyde
Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 1973Abstract The infrared spectra of 2-furaldehyde and its deutero analog were measured in the gaseous and liquid states and in solutions. The band contours of the spectra of the gaseous phase were discussed. Normal coordinate calculations were carried out and related to the band assignment.

Regioselective Palladium-Catalyzed Arylation of 2-Furaldehyde
Organic Letters, 2001An efficient regioselective method for the direct arylation of 2-furaldehyde to provide a range of pi-diverse 5-aryl-2-formylfuran derivatives is described. The method employs functionalized aryl halides and a catalytic amount of palladium(II) chloride under relatively mild conditions.

The apparatus used for the preparation of 2-furaldehyde is shown in Fig. 4. The five-liter round-bottomed flask A is connected by means of a cork to the air condenser B, which consists of a tube of diameter 1.8 cm and length 50 cm. A bent side tube C is sealed to B at a distance of 15 cm from its lower end. The bent upper end of the tube B is connected

Syntheses from 4,5-dibromo-2-furaldehyde
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 19651. The nitration of 4,5-dibromo-2-furaldehyde with nitric acid in acetic anhydride goes with the replacement of the bromine atom in the α-position of the furan nucleus by a nitro group, and 4-bromo-5-nitro-2-furanmethanediol diacetate is formed. 2. In the reaction of butyllithium with 4,5-dibromo-2-furaldehyde acetal the bromide in the α-
