Hierarchically Porous Coatings for Cellulose Fibers by Core–Shell Particle Templating

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Hybrid and functional core–shell particles comprising a silica core and a polymer shell were synthesized and used to develop a coating and etching process applied to a cellulose substrate. This resulted in highly porous, functional coatings on a cellulose membrane for further application in cellulose‐based adsorbers and advanced membrane technology ...

Biodegradable Natural Polymer‐Based Drug Delivery Systems for Bone Tissue Engineering

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The increasing incidence of bone diseases and injuries, especially among aging populations, has underscored the shortcomings of traditional treatments such as bone grafts and metal implants, which often face complications including immune rejection, mechanical failure, and delayed healing.

A PLP‐SEC Investigation of Di(Ethylene Glycol) Methyl Ether Methacrylate Radical Polymerization Propagation Kinetics in Solution

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
The propagation rate coefficient of di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate exhibits the same temperature dependency but is a factor of 12 higher in aqueous solution compared to bulk. Smaller increases are observed in ethanol and ethanol/water mixtures, with the value of the rate coefficient decreasing as the monomer concentration in solution is ...

Concentration effects in the base-catalyzed hydrolysis of oligo(ethylene glycol)- and amine-containing methacrylic monomers

open access: yesDesigned Monomers and Polymers, 2017
Concentration effects in the base-catalyzed hydrolysis of water-soluble methacrylates (3-(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl) methacrylate (DMAEMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylates (OEGMAs)) have been studied.

2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA)

open access: yesContact dermatitis
This is the second part of a literature review of the clinical aspects of contact allergy to and allergic contact dermatitis from 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA). Topics include cross- and co-sensitization, atypical manifestations of contact allergy, frequency of positive patch tests to HEMA compared with other (meth)acrylates, sensitivity of HEMA ...

Quantification of Homopolymer Impurities in Structured Acrylate Copolymers Produced by High‐Temperature Semi‐Batch Radical Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
Isobornyl acrylate macromonomer solutions are synthesized via high‐temperature radical polymerization using a starved‐feed semi‐batch operating policy. Through sequential feeding, the macromonomer solution functions as an addition‐fragmentation agent, facilitating the production of blocky and comb acrylate copolymers.
