Preparation and Characterization of Hydrogel (2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate, Methacrylamide) for Insulin Delivery [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering
For diabetics, insulin replacement therapy by injection of insulin is a common and final treatment protocol. They must replace insulin with a subcutaneous insulin injection via a syringe up to four times a day.

A PLP‐SEC Investigation of Di(Ethylene Glycol) Methyl Ether Methacrylate Radical Polymerization Propagation Kinetics in Solution

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
The propagation rate coefficient of di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate exhibits the same temperature dependency but is a factor of 12 higher in aqueous solution compared to bulk. Smaller increases are observed in ethanol and ethanol/water mixtures, with the value of the rate coefficient decreasing as the monomer concentration in solution is ...

Porous copolymers of methacrylic acid with N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide and (2-hydroxyethyl) methacrylate. Study of sorption properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Porous crosslinked copolymers of methacrylic acid with N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide (HPMA) or (2-hydroxyethyl) methacrylate were prepared, and the relationship between their structure and the sorption of papain, bovine serumalbumin ...

Quantification of Homopolymer Impurities in Structured Acrylate Copolymers Produced by High‐Temperature Semi‐Batch Radical Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
Isobornyl acrylate macromonomer solutions are synthesized via high‐temperature radical polymerization using a starved‐feed semi‐batch operating policy. Through sequential feeding, the macromonomer solution functions as an addition‐fragmentation agent, facilitating the production of blocky and comb acrylate copolymers.

Catalytic activity of bovine lactoperoxidase supported on macroporous poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) (molar ratio 85/15) are copolymerised upon c-ray exposure at 78 C in the presence of water to give a hydrophilic resin with a porosity that favours the anchoring of bovine ...

Tailored for Binding: Alanine‐Modified Poly(1‐Naphthylamine) Targets Serum Albumins

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Alanine modified poly(1‐naphthylamine). ABSTRACT This study presents a new approach for modifying the structural and functional properties of poly(1‐naphthylamine) (PNA) by incorporating the amino acid alanine (Ala) in different molar proportions (80/20, 50/50, and 20/80 for PNA/Ala) through an ultrasound‐assisted polymerization process.

Unsaturated biobased polyesters from bicyclic α‐pinene‐based diols

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
We present the synthesis of four biosourced unsaturated polyesters made from chiral terpene‐based diols and esters of renewable diacids. The resulting materials harbor a bicyclic pinene ring in their backbones which leads to enhanced thermal properties while still conferring susceptibility to enzyme hydrolysis for chains having a cis alkene.

Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate): A new star polymer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Multiarm star polymers are attractive materials due to their unusual bulk and solution properties. They are considered analogues of dendrimers with a wide range of applications, such as drug delivery, membranes, coatings and lithography.1 The advent of ...

Adsorption of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate on Dentin from Aqueous Solution

open access: yesDental Materials Journal, 1990
The adsorption of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) on bovine dentin from aqueous solution was examined to clarify the priming effects of HEMA on dentin bonding. HEMA adsorption was characterized by: (1) slow attainment of equilibrium at higher concentrations (after 72 h); (2) a linear isotherm with a maximum possible adsorption, where an abrupt ...

Copolymer Synthesis of N‐Vinylacetamide and 2‐Methylene‐1,3‐Dioxepane Provides a New Degradable Polymer

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 6, Page 1306-1318, 15 March 2025.
ABSTRACT N‐vinylamides, especially noncyclic N‐vinylacetamide (NVA), have been used in various applications such as biomaterials, surfactants, and hydrogels. However, their potential to copolymerize with cyclic ketene acetal (CKA) to create degradable polymers is underexplored.
