Impact of UV–HO Advanced Oxidation and Aging Processes on GAC Capacity for the Removal of Cyanobacterial Taste and Odor Compounds

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Insights, 2015
Cyanobacteria and their taste and odor (T&O) compounds are a growing concern in water sources globally. Geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) are the most commonly detected T&O compounds associated with cyanobacterial presence in drinking water sources ...

Free‐Running Three‐Dimensional Cardiac Extracellular Volume Mapping in a Single Scan With Mid‐Scan Contrast Injection

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a new method for free‐running three‐dimensional (3D) extracellular volume mapping of the heart in a single scan with mid‐scan contrast injection. Methods 3D cardiac MR imaging was performed with a single scan that acquired k‐space data continuously using an inversion recovery (IR) sequence with a spoiled gradient‐echo ...

pH and Mg/Ca control for biological treatment of an offensive flavour (2-MIB)

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1998
From a series of experimental observations, it was found that removal rates of the offensive flavor 2-methyl-isoborneol(2-MIB) and ammonia by a biological treatment for water supply were rather unstable and that the removal rates of them often became reverse such as low removal in 2-MIB and high removal of ammonia. One reason for the reverse phenomenon
