Electrochemical incineration of cresols: A comparative study between PbO2 and boron-doped diamond anodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The electrooxidation of aqueous solutions containing 5 mM of o-, m- and p-cresol at pH 4.0 has been investigated using a flow filter-press reactor with a boron-doped diamond (BDD) under galvanostatic electrolysis. All cresols are degraded at similar rate

Carbon Dots as Photoinitiators for Thiol–Ene Reactions

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 9, 14 May 2026.
A metal‐free and eco‐friendly approach for the anti‐Markovnikov hydrothiolation of olefins, using carbon dots (CDs) as bio‐derived photoinitiators, is presented herein. The procedure occurs in aqueous media upon visible light irradiation, and it is compatible with a broad range of thiols, alkenes, and alkynes.

Hydrogenolysis of Xylitol to Propanediols Over Nickel Catalysts Supported on Sulfated Zirconia: Controlling Intrinsic Activity via Metal Support Synergy

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 91, Issue 5, May 2026.
Nickel catalysts supported on zirconia (Ni/ZrO2) and sulfated zirconia (Ni/SZx) were synthesized via wet impregnation and used for xylitol hydrogenolysis to propanediols. Overall, catalysts were reduced at low temperatures and exhibited low metallic Ni dispersion, attributed to the low support surface area.

Extraction of polar and nonpolar biomarkers from the martian soil using aqueous surfactant solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Life Marker Chip intends to use an aqueous surfactant solution to extract both polar AND nonpolar biomarkers from the martian soil for transport to an antibody-based detection system. Currently, a solution of 1.5 g l-1 polysorbate 80 in 20:80 (vol:

Structural hysteresis of dilute fluorine salt aqueous solutions

open access: yes, 2023
In contrast with the generally accepted picture for most of the dilute salt aqueous solutions, which defaults that only one structural state/form exists at the given values of system/thermodynamic parameters, in this work, combining characterization of ...

Sensory and Physicochemical Evaluation of Dairy‐Like Plant‐Based Milk Formulations Predicted by Machine Learning

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant‐based milk alternatives (PBMAs) are now increasingly used by some consumers in similar ways to cow milk. However, they differ in their physicochemical and sensory properties. Improving PBMAs to better mimic dairy is limited by the time and cost of development trials.

Fermentation Performance and Microbial Interactions of Selected Aroma‐Producing Yeasts Co‐Cultivated With Lactic Acid Bacteria in Winemaking

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Wine with unique flavor and aroma from nonspontaneous wine fermentation with nonconventional yeasts has gained attention in the wine industry. To develop a stable and controllable pathway for winemaking, the current study screened aroma‐producing yeast strains from grape vineyards in Taiwan and evaluated their suitability through co ...

The adsorption of arsenic oxyacids to iron oxyhydroxide columns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The fundamental side of this project includes determination of ionic radii and plausible hydration numbers for the weakly hydrated alkali metal ions in solution, as well as an investigation of the intramolecular bond lengths of arsenic oxyacid species ...
