24-Epibrassinolide from Gypsophila perfoliata

open access: yesZeitschrift Fur Naturforschung - Section C Journal of Biosciences, 1996
Abstract The scarce 24-epibrassinolide could be identified from seeds of Gypsophila perfoliata L. by GC/MS as the only brassinosteroid present. Furthermore, the Δ7-phyto-sterols ergost-7-en-3β-ol, spinasterol and 22-dihydro-spinasterol were found as main sterols in the same plant material.

New synthetic strategy for the synthesis of 24-epibrassinolide

Steroids, 1996
The synthesis of (22E,24R)-5 alpha-ergosta-2,22-dien-6-one (2), a key intermediate to the preparation of 24-epibrassinolide (1), was achieved through the 3,6-diketone 8 in a 40% overall yield in five steps starting from ergosterol (3).

Isolation and characterization of related impurities in 24-epibrassinolide

Tetrahedron, 2009
Two extra hydroxylated analogs of 24-epibrassinolide (2),17-hydroxy-24-epibrassinolide (4), 25-hydroxy 24-epibrassinolide (5), and two oxo-analogs of 24-epibrassinolide 22-oxo-23S-24-epibrassinolide (6), 22R-23-oxo-24-epibrassinolide (7) as impurities were isolated and identified from the initial material [purity: 2 and its 22S, 23S-isomer (3) :-95 ...

Synthesis of fatty acyl derivatives of 24-epibrassinolide

The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2013
A number of fatty acid (palmitic, myristic and lauric) esters (both 3α- and 3β-isomers) of epibrassinolide has been prepared as reference compounds for metabolic studies. Selective protection of the three of four hydroxyl groups of epibrassinolide was successively performed first as cyclic 22,23-methylboronates and then as 2α-benzyl ethers.

Synthesis of tritium labelled 24‐epibrassinolide

Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, 1992
AbstractDeuterium and tritium 5,7,7‐tris‐labelled 24‐epibrassinolide were prepared by base catalyzed exchange reaction using 24‐epicastasterone tetraacetate 1 or bis‐isopropylidenedioxy‐24‐epicastasterone 8 and labelled water. Baeyer‐Villiger oxidation of the obtained labelled 6‐ketones 2 and 3 with CF3CO3H gave after alkaline deacetylation of the ...

The effect of 24-epibrassinolide on the green alga Acutodesmus obliquus (Chlorophyceae)

Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Brassinosteroids play an important role in the plant growth and development as well as in the adaptation of plants to environmental stresses. Studies have shown the effect of 24-epibrassinolide (EBL) in the range of concentrations 0.0001-10 μM on the green unicellular alga Acutodesmus obliquus (Chlorophyceae) during 7 days of cultivation.

Consequences of the presence of 24-epibrassinolide, on cultures of a diatom, Asterionella formosa

Biochimie, 2012
Addition of the plant hormone 24-epibrassinolide to culture media stimulated the growth of a freshwater diatom, Asterionella formosa. The hormone stimulated activity of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), a key enzyme from Calvin cycle, by 6-fold.

Wheat regenerants in the system of rapid assessment of the effect of 24-epibrassinolide

Biomics, 2020
The influence of 24-epibrassinolide on the efficiency of regenerants obtained from embryonic calli formation was studied in wheat cultivars contrast for drought resistance. The possibility of using the experimental model system «immature embryo – embryonic callus – regenerant» in the rapid assessment of the effect of antistress plant growth regulators ...
