Emerging Role of Ferroptosis in Diabetes and Associated Complications: When Metabolic Dysregulation Meets Cell Death

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study identifies ferroptosis as a key driver of diabetes and its complications via iron metabolism and lipid peroxidation, elucidates organelle interactions underlying cell vulnerability, and provides insights for targeted therapies against metabolic disorders.

Pathophysiology and Molecular Signalling in Osteoporosis: Linking Risk Factors to Bone Loss

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Osteoporosis is a prevalent skeletal disorder characterised by progressive reduction in bone mass, microarchitectural deterioration, and increased fracture susceptibility. In India, approximately one‐third of the elderly population is affected by bone‐related disorders, and the global burden of osteoporosis continues to rise.

Assessing P1NP/β‐CTX as Potential Risk Factors Associated With Different Subtypes of Fragile Hip Fracture in Elderly Patients

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 5, Page 944-950, May 2026.
By exploring the correlation between P1NP/β‐CTX and the subtypes of hip fractures, this study attempts to establish these two bone turnover markers as predictive indicators and postoperative complication monitors for such common fractures in the elderly.

Omalizumab Therapy Results in Defined Behavioural Changes and Improvements in Quality of Life in Solar Urticaria

open access: yesPhotodermatology, Photoimmunology &Photomedicine, Volume 42, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Solar urticaria is a rare photodermatosis in which exquisite photosensitivity can require extreme behavioural adaptations, resulting in a substantial impact on quality of life (QoL). Omalizumab therapy has been demonstrated to improve several clinical outcome measures, but the impact on behavioural measures is poorly understood. Our

Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Concentration and Cognitive Impairment

open access: yesJournal of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neurology, 2008
Vitamin D may be of interest in the prevention of cognitive impairment, though previous findings are inconclusive. Participants were 1766 adults aged 65 years and older from the Health Survey for England 2000, a nationally representative population-based study. Cognitive impairment was assessed using the Abbreviated Mental Test Score.
