Thermometer for the 2D Electron Gas using 1D Thermopower [PDF]
We measure the temperature of a 2D electron gas in GaAs from the thermopower of a one-dimensional ballistic constriction, using the Mott relation to confirm the calibration from the electrical conductance. Under hot electron conditions, this technique shows that the power loss by the electrons follows a $T^5$ dependence in the Gruneisen-Bloch regime ...

A 2D electron gas is known to form at the interface of some oxides. Here, 2D electron density is studied in the LaIn1-xGaxO3/Ba0.997La0.003SnO3 interface, revealing that increased alloying causes the migration of dislocations to the interface, destroying

Spin Resonance Absorption in a 2D Electron Gas
We analyze the power absorption at electron spin resonance excited by the Bychkov{Rashba spin{orbit fleld in a 2D electron gas. We show that, as long as the absorbed power is dissipated by the usual spin lattice relaxation mechanisms, the resonance line shape is expected to be of pure absorption type, i.e., it can be described by the imaginary part of ...

Formation and Tuning of 2D Electron Gas in Perovskite Heterostructures [PDF]
Oxide interfaces provide very intriguing phenomena, in particular a 2D electron gas (2DEG) emerging between robustly insulating perovskites. The 2DEG was detected in 2004 beneath polar LaAlO3 (LAO) epitaxially grown on TiO2‐terminated SrTiO3 (001) (STO). Herein, recent first‐principles studies of 2DEGs are reviewed.

MAGNETIZATION OF A BILAYER 2D ELECTRON GAS [PDF]
We present torque-magnetometry measurements of a bilayer two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) with an inter-well barrier thin enough to enable a strong coupling between the quantum wells. We observe magnetization steps related to symmetric–anti-symmetric (SAS) transitions. Increasing the in-plane magnetic field leads to a reduction of the SAS splitting.

Correlation Energy and Spin Polarization in the 2D Electron Gas [PDF]
The ground state energy of the two--dimensional uniform electron gas has been calculated with fixed--node diffusion Monte Carlo, including backflow correlations, for a wide range of electron densities as a function of spin polarization. We give a simple analytic representation of the correlation energy which fits the density and polarization dependence

A particle-in-cell simulation is suitable for simulating capacitively coupled plasma devices because it calculates the trajectory of particles with arbitrary energy distributions and has the advantage of analyzing sheath dynamics precisely.
