Harvesting information across the horizon

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The effect of black holes on entanglement harvesting has been of considerable interest over the past decade. Research involving stationary Unruh-DeWitt (UDW) detectors near a (2+1)-dimensional Bañados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole has uncovered ...

The relation between Euclidean and Lorentzian 2D quantum gravity

open access: yes, 1999
Starting from 2D Euclidean quantum gravity, we show that one recovers 2D Lorentzian quantum gravity by removing all baby universes. Using a peeling procedure to decompose the discrete, triangulated geometries along a one-dimensional path, we ...

Semi-infinite cohomology in conformal field theory and 2d gravity

open access: yes, 1993
We discuss various techniques for computing the semi-infinite cohomology of highest weight modules which arise in the BRST quantization of two dimensional field theories.

Multiobjective Codesign Optimization of a Planar Pneumatic Artificial Muscle‐Based Snake‐Like Robot for Enhanced Agility and Energy Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...

On JT gravity path integrals and the tunneling process

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity path integral of the trumpet can be interpreted as a transition amplitude from an older black hole to a younger one, accompanied by the emission of a baby universe, represented by the geodesic boundary of the trumpet ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Balance, gravity waves and jets in turbulent shallow water flows

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis contains a thorough investigation of the properties of freely decaying turbulence in a rotating shallow water layer on a sphere. A large number of simulations, covering an extensive range of Froude and Rossby numbers, have been carried out ...

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Holographic central charge for sine dilaton gravity

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
In this paper, we calculate the holographic central charge (csDG) associated with sine dilaton gravity (sDG) in the semiclassical limit. In the low energy limit, the sDG flows into the ordinary JT gravity which is a conjectured dual of ordinary ...
