Electronic structure and magnetic properties of pyroxenes (Li,Na)TM(Si,Ge)2O6: novel low-dimensional magnets with 90 bonds

open access: yes, 2008
The results of the LSDA+U calculations for pyroxenes with diverse magnetic properties (Li,Na)TM(Si,Ge)$_2$O$_6$, where TM is the transition metal ion (Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe), are presented.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

EAA FlightLink 2G

open access: yesProceedings of the Wisconsin Space Conference, 2012
Founded over half a century ago in Milwaukee, WI, by a pro-active group of aviators interested in building their own aircraft, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has subsequently expanded its mission to include the history, preservation, display, and ongoing research on antiques, classics, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters,

Splittings of knot groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Let K be a knot of genus g. If K is fibered, then it is well known that the knot group pi(K) splits only over a free group of rank 2g. We show that if K is not fibered, then pi(K) splits over non-free groups of arbitrarily large rank.

Optical properties of pyrochlore oxide $Pb_{2}Ru_{2}O_{7-{\delta}}$

open access: yes, 2003
We present optical conductivity spectra for $Pb_{2}Ru_{2}O_{7-{\delta}}$ single crystal at different temperatures. Among reported pyrochlore ruthenates, this compound exhibits metallic behavior in a wide temperature range and has the least resistivity ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

An examination of the fundamental solution and Green’s function in orthotropic photothermoelastic with diffusion under the MGT model

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica
The objective of this paper is to investigate the fundamental solution and Green’s function in a semi-infinite orthotropic photothermoelastic diffusion medium that is based on the Moore-Gibson-Thompson heat equation (MGTPWD).

Raman signature of the U(1) Dirac spin-liquid state in spin-1/2 kagome system

open access: yes, 2009
We followed the Shastry--Shraiman formulation of Raman scattering in Hubbard systems and considered the Raman intensity profile in the spin-1/2 "perfect" kagome lattice herbertsmithite ZnCu_3(OH)_6Cl_2, assuming the ground state is well-described by the ...
