Enzyme contribution of non-Saccharomyces yeasts to wine production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The fermentation of grape must to produce wine is a biologically complex process, carried on by yeasts and malolactic bacteria. The yeasts present in spontaneous fermentation may be divided into two groups, the Saccharomyces yeasts, particularly S ...

Growth‐Like Swelling of 2D Precursors for Efficient Fabrication of Complex 3D Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The growth‐like swelling process fills photocured polymers into the elastomeric microstructures, inducing a significant swelling deformation of microstructures that can be maintained in the absence of solvents. The growth‐like swelling process breaks through the dependence of swelling deformation on the solvents, thereby expanding the application of 3D

Life Cycle Analysis of Integrated Production of Ferulic Acid, 2,3 Butanediol and Microbial Plant Biostimulants from Lignocellulosic Biomass by a Two-Step Cascading Process

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
A small scale biorefinery process, which includes two main steps: (1) biomass pre-treatment with natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) and feruloyl-esterase (FAE); and (2) one pot production of a versatile chemical, 2,3 butanediol (2,3-BD), from NADES ...

Pierceable, Water‐Resistant, and Transparent Nanofilm Electrodes Comprising Carbon Nanotubes for Long‐Term Monitoring of Plant Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultra‐flexible electrodes composed of single‐walled carbon nanotubes on a polymeric substrate exhibit excellent transparency, water resistance, and conformability to hairy surfaces. These non‐invasive nanofilms are easily pierced by trichomes, overcoming the structural barriers in plant electrophysiology.
