Development of a Scoring System to Predict the Treatment Success for Nonoperative Management of Peptic Ulcer Perforation: A Secondary Data Analysis of PPAP Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although surgical treatment is the primary measure for patients with perforated peptic ulcer (PPU), nonoperative management (NOM) has become a common alternative. However, risk score models predicting the success of NOM based on the analysis of a large number of patients remain scarce.

Modulation of Photoluminescence and Solar Thermal Energy Storage in Norbornadiene–Quadricyclane Dimers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Multichromophoric donor–acceptor norbornadiene switches exhibit red‐shifted absorption, tunable photoisomerisation and fluorescence, and record solar energy storage performance. Ortho‐dimers act as efficient photoswitches, whilst para‐dimers are highly emissive.

What to Make and How to Make It: Combining Machine Learning and Statistical Learning to Design New Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Combining machine learning and probabilistic statistical learning is a powerful way to discover and design new materials. A variety of machine learning approaches can be used to identify promising candidates for target applications, and causal inference can help identify potential ways to make them a reality.

Chiral Bifacial Non‐Fullerene Acceptors with Chirality‐Induced Spin Selectivity: A Homochiral Strategy to Improve Organic Solar Cell Performance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We develop new bifacial chiral non‐fullerene acceptors (NFAs) for organic solar cells (OSCs). Through comparative investigations of four NFAs including meso, racemic, and chiral entries, we demonstrate the superiority of homochiral NFAs for the first time.

Design Challenges to Expand the Functionality of Drones: Deformable Rotorcraft and Nature‐Inspired Flapping Drones

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This review systematically analyzes deformable drones, including extendable, foldable, and tilting configurations, along with nature‐inspired flapping rotorcraft. By classifying deformation principles and structural mechanisms, design trade‐offs, functional capabilities, and future development potential are highlighted.

Plasmon‐Enhanced CO2 Methanation over Au@Ru/TiO2 via Nanoscale Control of Ru Shell Thickness

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Au@Ru core–shell nanoparticles on TiO2 integrate active Ru sites with Au plasmonic excitation. At 190 °C, 545 nm light boosts CO2 methanation rates by 335% while preserving >99% CH4 selectivity. The catalyst outperforms Ru/C and remains stable for 85 h, underscoring nanoscale shell engineering for efficient light‐assisted thermocatalysis.

Iptacopan for Immune Thrombocytopenia and Cold Agglutinin Disease: A Global Phase 2 Basket Clinical Trial

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iptacopan is a first‐in‐class, oral, selective inhibitor of complement factor B that has demonstrated positive efficacy across several complement‐driven diseases. Here we evaluate the efficacy and safety of iptacopan monotherapy in adult patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and primary cold agglutinin disease (CAD). We performed
