Cooperative breeding does not mitigate declines in offspring care with cool and wet conditions in a temperate Australian songbird

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
Adverse climatic conditions can decrease reproductive success by reducing parents’ ability to provide enough resources to growing young. Here, we address the hypothesis that helpers at the nest can buffer the negative effects of challenging climatic ...

Quantification of Homopolymer Impurities in Structured Acrylate Copolymers Produced by High‐Temperature Semi‐Batch Radical Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
Isobornyl acrylate macromonomer solutions are synthesized via high‐temperature radical polymerization using a starved‐feed semi‐batch operating policy. Through sequential feeding, the macromonomer solution functions as an addition‐fragmentation agent, facilitating the production of blocky and comb acrylate copolymers.

3800 Years of quantitative precipitation reconstruction from the Northwest Yucatan Peninsula.

open access: yes, 2013
Precipitation over the last 3800 years has been reconstructed using modern pollen calibration and precipitation data. A transfer function was then performed via the linear method of partial least squares.

TRM‐to‐concrete interface bond without anchors: Combined experimental, analytical, and numerical modeling approach

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Textile reinforced mortar (TRM) systems have emerged as an effective alternative to conventional FRP strengthening solutions due to their compatibility with concrete substrates and favorable performance under adverse environmental conditions.

Preliminary Study on Unit Commitment for Renewable Energy Integration Considering Operation Cost and Life Cycle Assessment

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, EarlyView.
Most countries, including Japan, are focused on achieving net‐zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, which requires quick action. Despite the increasing level of renewable power generation in power grids, fossil fuel power plants still have a significant role in producing GHG emissions, causing serious environmental issues.

Gas check prevention during calendering of poly(vinyl chloride) films using poly(caprolactone)‐based additives

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 441-452, March 2025.
Three poly(caprolactone) (PCL)‐based additives of differing molecular weights were used as a secondary plasticizer to prevent gas checks in PVC films produced through calendering. Results showed that chemical and physicochemical properties influence the prevention or reduction of gas checks, unlike rheological properties including complex viscosity and

An open-source digital image correlation acquisition system, focusing on temporal synchronization with the Gleeble 3800

open access: yes
Current commercial digital image correlation (DIC) systems offer limited versatility, particularly with regards to integrating DIC and thermal imaging on the Gleeble 3800, and are also often financially prohibitive. On the other hand, current open-source
