Numerical and experimental analysis of a 3D printed Savonius rotor with

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, the enhancement of the conventional Savonius wind rotor performance with extension plate has been investigated experimentally and numerically. Experimental models used in the study have been produced with 3D (three dimensional) printing, which is one of the rapid prototyping techniques.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Identification of (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 compound

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a noninfectious BAC‐based SARS‐CoV‐2 replicon that enables antiviral screening under BSL‐2 conditions. Using this platform, we screened 373 food‐derived compounds and identified (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel inhibitor of SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA replication, highlighting the value of safe replicon systems for antiviral ...

Evolution‐guided yeast complementation reveals functional differences in human PSPH variants

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Ancient genomes can help guide which human genetic variants are tested experimentally. This study applies that idea to PSPH, a gene involved in serine biosynthesis, and uses high‐throughput yeast complementation to compare variant function. The findings reveal measurable differences among selected alleles and illustrate the value of evolution‐guided ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Paper No. 2003-JSC-340 Biausser 1

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we describe the breaking and post-breaking in a threedimensional numerical wave tank of a solitary wave over a sloping ridge. The numerical model is based on coupling a higher-order Boundary Element Method (BEM) solution of fully nonlinear
