4-Aminopyridine derivatives with anticholinesterase and antiamnesic activity

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2008
Several carbamate derivatives of 4-aminopyridine were synthesized and their anticholinesterase activity was evaluated. Compound 4d showed the highest inhibitory effect blocking non-competitively acetylcholinesterase and competitively butyrylcholinesterase.

4-Aminopyridine Potentiates Neostigmine and Pyridostigmine in Man

Anesthesiology, 1979
To elucidate the interaction of 4-aminopyridine with neostigmine and pyridostigmine, the authors studied 57 anesthetized surgical patients using a technique of constant infusion of pancuronium to quantitate antagonist activity. 4-Aminopyridine, 0.15 or 0.35 mg/kg, produced no antagonism, while 0.5 mg/kg produced a mean 24 +/- 6 per cent (peak ...

A new calorimetric standard: 4-aminopyridine

Thermochimica Acta, 1977
Abstract The need for a new solution calorimetric standard is discussed. The standard proposed is 4-aminopyridine which is shown to be more satisfactory than the previously accepted standards of sodium hydroxide or trishydroxyaminomethane. The reaction is HClO 4 (aq) + 4–AP(aq)→4–APH + ClO − 4 (aq) with Δ H ° N (298.15 K) =11.164±0.011 kcal mol −1 .

Effects of 4-aminopyridine on neuromuscular transmission

Brain Research, 1978
4-Aminopyridine (4-AP) powerfully increases transmitter release from motor nerve terminals of rat and frog skeletal muscle in response to single nerve impulses. The drug also enhances transmitter release during repetitive nerve activity but, at D-tubocurarine-blocked endplates, only the first impulses cause increased transmitter release at stimulation ...
